As the good weather holds, the BBQ is getting used more and more. Tonight, we have had a rack of lamb and roast garlic and rosemary potatoes cooked on the BBQ.
WOW, the smell in the garden was droolworthy (made up word!) The lamb was soooooo tender, the spuds with a hint of smoke (bucket full of wood chips for free from an oak tree being cut up after the last storms) Carrots, broccoli and gravy from the lamb. Both Kids scoffing none-stop, fruit kebabs and ice cream for pud.
So, anyone here into outdoor cooking? Gas or charcoal, (charcoal for me)
Any good recipies to share? Our kids fave is chicken chunks marinaded in fresh orange juice and maple syrup. Bit of coleslaw and salad and happy faces abound

Gas or coal.....its a non-brainer isn't it!

Coal every time as what the hell is the point of cooking outside with gas ffs :(

WAAAARGH! stop talking about food!

I've been told not to eat starch, dairy, meat or anything heavy, and I am starving! When you can't eat you realise how much people talk about food all the time.

What's wrong with a gas BBQ? I would never go back to charcoal. Far too fiddly, you can't adjust the temperature and everything gets burned and tastes of smoke. I took my charcoal thing to the recycling facility.

gas is cheating and the burnt smokiness of proper bbq food is part of the fun ;)

BBQd a nice leg of lamb the other night.

Bone it out and open it out flat. Slow cook it in honey and paparika. Goes nice with a mint greek yoghart sauce. Sooo tender.... mmmm

I'm a gas man too - its so much quicker and no doubt more convenient.

I dropped some metal stuff in the recycling bin a couple of weeks back - it was full of charcoal bbqs. I'm guessing people couldnt be bothered cleaning them over the winter and have now just binned them.

Ah ha - a thread as insidiously evil as my one about cheese on toast and bacon sarnies!

Well done that man! ;)

Whilst there is a certain neanderthal charm to be had in watching grown men poke fire with a stick - I think I'd rather be over to Ed's for a BBQ - at least I'm certain I won't get food poisoning. ;)

Chicken glazed with honey, brown sugar and Jack Daniels fro me please.

<Loses faith in humanity>.....or it least Ed :(

Gas BBQ is more convenient, but come on flame grilled over hot coals with some wood chips chucked if for flavour. I prefer maple or hickory.

If i remember correctly(the chances are slim) anyone going to AR07 will be forced to use coal BBQ as the other group has the gas one. May the conversion begin :)

I refuse to read this thread fully on the grounds it'll send me insane with hunger in my current fragile state (...diet.... *sigh*)

For BBQ's wrap bannana's in tin foil and splash on some Bacardi and roast over the flames.

Goes great on ice cream :)

Also like making up my own Jack Daniels glaze :)
