Just got the official seat cowl for my K5 and the fit is rubbish :smt011

The instruction say to try and adjust the mounting etc but there doesn't seem to be much scope to do this.
Are they all this bad, and if so is there anyway I can make it fit better?

The one on Liz's K5 suffers from the same thing. I think they are all pretty much like that.

I'm sure I've read somewhere about taking the rubber grommets off of the pillion seat and swapping them over, as that seems to make it a better fit, but I've never tried it

I had same problem on the back of mine the gap was huge. I changed over the rubbers from the seat to the seat cowl, was 10 minute job and lowered it and closed the gap abit,,not perfect but tons better. I think mine went out of line because of me changing the undertray... I see you have a tail tidy i think it has the same affect, puts the rear panels out of line for some reason :smt102 .. Give it a go and see if it works if not,,you'll have to start moving the fixings around to get the best fit!!!

Hope that helps
Rich!!

Yep, got an evotech tail tidy. Sounds like I need to have a play around with rubbers etc. Fnarr fnarr.

I see you have the saddle shutters too,,they look abit wonky donky,,sorry im very picky  ,,if you bend the bracket they're on and loosen the screws, then line them up with the bodywork they sit sweet as a nut!!! 8-[

I don't think it looks any worse than mine did. You have just taken pics from certain angles that make it look worse than it is. I'd leave it. I remember thinking at the time that it is a big gap but they are pretty much all like that from what I have seen.

They may be "all like that sir" but that doesn't make it acceptable. More like cheap stuff from a poor aftermarket supplier.

Very surprised that Suzuki sell em.

Agreed, some components that suzuki sell aren't really acceptable,, unless you buy a GSXR they don't seem to be that interested in the quality of the other makes accessories. It's almost as if when the come to check the parts they say "Oh that'll do" :smt086!!!

I read about the seat cowls not fitting too well a few days ago and had a closer look at mine. The back of it was sitting higher than the back of the bike. To sort it I wrapped a row of zip ties to the metal bracket under the seat and re fitted the cowl. Now it sits nice and flush.

Cheers folks, swapped the rubbers over today and fits loads better - still overhangs at the front a tad but much much better.
Will have a play with the saddle shutters later, but overall am very happy with it now

Glad that it improved it abit, i think to get it perfect you would have to chop bits out of the plastic bracket or reline it by drilling some more holes.. I thought that would be abit OTT though!!!

I have a curvy
and had same problem..

came on here and advice was ...(dunno if same on a pointy)

the bracket at the back of the bike that the hook "hooks"under on the botom of the cowl.. just run a load of gaffer tape around it to thicken it up and then when u hook under it and press the cowl down it helps to get it to sit lower..

worked on mine.

oh and I was reading htis and waiting for scoobs to turn up..>>>> reason being this as below>>>>>>>>>>>>
