View Full Version : Snow shovels - For or against?

I'm having to keep my eye on a certain person who shall remain nameless because he has threatened to cut off my "snow shovel" (the bit at the back with the indicators an plate on) with an angle grinder. Personally, I like it and think it looks great. Am I the only one or does anyone else think Suzuki did a good job with the a**e end of the SV?

No - it can't be true - There must be someone else out there?

No, no. Hovis is, for once, on the money.
No one likes the back end. It is only a matter of time before revulsion overcomes financial obligations and the shovel comes off.

Neither for nor against exactly, do you like it? If you do that's OK and, frankly, the only important deciding factor.
My SV1000 has had it removed, 'cos I think it's ugly, but mine is a K3 and the later bikes, (K5 on?), are fitted with rather more trim looking rear ends. That said, come the rotten weather it's usually refitted as it does a damn good job of keeping crap off the rear light which can become utterly invisible in a frighteningly short period of time.
Against. Not as against topboxes, but definately against.

Yep - it's practical too.....
Never had my back light obscured by dirt.
AGAINST with a passion
Off off off off off off off off :smt027

I'm not to keen on the sheer size of the thing but I don't really want a tail tidy either.
I don't mind it, though I don't dislike it enough to hack it off.

just give it a trim:thumbsup:
cut the bottom bit off for starters
if you want it smaller,
remove reflector & raise plate up to no. plate light
It's not even that good for shovelling snow.... not that I've tried ;)
Personally I prefer the look of a 'docked' SV.
You'll soon agree once you've done it, isn't it an SV law to get rid of the shovel. If not it should be
See if this can convince you a little.. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=80152

I'd rather have a smaller booty on my Curvy- sadly, it requires surgery, rather than a simple replacement. That big lump of plastic really is a bit much considering the styling of the rest of the bike...
I may get smaller indies for it though, as it looks like they're removable...

To be perfectly honest i dont care much either way, it certainly does not bother me enough to give it the chop....where's that apathy emoticon.
That said the rear end is the only part of my bike that is in one piece.

Not sure if your entire post is sarcastic :)
I agree though, but not quite so enthusiastically. I think most tailtidies look very cheap and tacky, there are only a few that I like the look of. I also think tiny clear indicators and a small number plate is the about the most MaxPowerish mod you could make to a bike, maybe exceeded only by little blue leds dotted around, or a massive spoiler.

I dont mind it, but I'd much prefer a tail tidy. But then a tail tidy looks crap with a legal sized number plate (OE numberplate) so I'd have to chance having a smaller one that a copper might not like

Ditto... If it wasn't fitted in the first place, Suzuki would save themselves a fortune :!:

Tail tidys look better, and in my view look best with original plate and indicators. Even fillthy and on a trailer after having been written off she looks better:

Lucky you - I have. As such when needed the mudguard goes back on.
I think Mr Suzuki could have done better, but I dont dislike it. The Reflector is the worst. I cut mine off and refitted between the plate light and the plate.
