it's a very sad case no doubt...

but the facts remain:

due to someone playing :toss: on the road someone else was injured, i'd say that the guy who was in the right deserves to have the cost of his medical care taken care of, just in the same way that if he'll seriously injured the boy by blowing through a red light at 50 in a 30 he should be liable for his actions

serves the stupid little c**t of a child right.

if you are stupid enough to do that you deserve what you get!

a bit like playing chicken on a train line.

many will dissagree with me but i have no sympathy for kids who die like that.

I have to agree with Neio.....kids that play chicken are *******s. I used to have a problem with kids doing it to me in Windsor.

I also think it is only right that the biker gets compensation. Perhaps though it would be better if the family of the kid were held financially responsible!

This case was really about whether the kids actions were classed as criminal - this is the criminal injuries compensation authority here. Had they not been he wouldnt have got the compensation and would have been told to sue the family. I suspect the fact that the family have nothing meant this was his only option to get some form of compensation.

No kid deserves to die. Tragic set of events for all. Glad there are systems in place to cover victims - be interesting to find out how much he is paid out.

Its nice to see justice done at last in this case. From the sound of the bikers lawyer they were not angry with the kid's family at all, as they were very upset as well understandably, and it just wouldn't be right to sue them. So this seems like the best result. I don't have much sorrow for the kid himself though, you should know better at 12!

That's what I was thinking. We all did stupid things when we were kids, I know I did - it's just a shame that these things happen.
