I got mine for £121 fitted, and that was expensive compared with a lot of places, but these guy's help me out so many times for nothing after I do something stupid to the bike, so I dont mind going to him and paying that little bit more.

90-100 quid is the cheapest you'll get the tyre, depending upon size, I'm assuming 180 or 190 width for a Blackbird. Ride in ride out fitting bargain on about 15 quid, or a fiver for a loose wheel. It's not a bad price but with some hunting on the web/ebay you could probably do it cheaper if you can be bothered and you think the savings worth taking up your time.

That would have been a 160/60/17 though, a bit cheaper than a Blackbird tyre.

Nope! It's expensive for an 020. Mike paid £115 for his 014 and I paid £120 for my 2CT ride in ride out. It's the same wheel size on the blackbrid - 180x17x55

Dont mean to preach mate but why don't you register with the cbr forum? You'll get all the advice and prices you need for your blackbird. There's a guy who does the cheapest tyres on the planet - but only for registered members.

The 020L's a non-standard fitment isn't it, built for stupidly fast heavy bikes? Those always command a premium...

It totally defeats me why anyone would still choose 020s these days for any other reason, since they're so similiar to the Strada/Roadtec, but less grippy, less long-lasting, less good in the rain and generlaly more expensive, but who am I to judge, considering how much I spend on tat

:stupid: I know I had the 020 with a shallower profile Dunlop on the front, but I have to say the 020 I used to have on the back was all of the above, just generally lacked grip, and I actually preferred the old rear Dunlop.

Having said that I know three guys with Blackbirds who swear by them, including one tyre dealer. Maybe the extra weight helps matters? Don't know.

Don't get me wrong, in its day they must have been a revelation, they're not drastically far off the pace even now IMO... I'm just uncharitable because I tried a Z6 first, and that's about 4 years newer in design.

correct...better tyres out there now...
AVON STORM ST's seem to be the tyre of choice fo most at the moment...

the only reason i am getting a rear 020 is because the bike i bought came with them....the front tyre is fine, just the rear tyre needing replaced...

yeah....the BT020L ARE more expensive than a standard BT020...
standard one online you will get for about £90...
BT020L online is about £115...
cheapest fitting i have found is £15

so £130 for tyretech to come out to you own house...with the tyre..and fit it is bloody gd i think...
you migh get it cheaper else where...BUT...you have to ride to these places which requires petrol money....so in essence, unless youstay 5 mins away from the place..looks like we are all paying the same...lol:smt038 \\:D/

So in that case then, if you've pretty much got it sussed - why bother asking this lot?

BK.....I think its a matter of choice what tyre you put on and where you get it .....its always gonnae be a small fortune with nothing to show.

If you travel to get them done then yes you have to pay for petrol but you get the pleasure of the :riding: there and a chance to scrub them in on the way home

Because sometimes even when you think you know the answer it's a good idea to ask- sorts out your own thoughts and gets confirmation. I do it all the time :)

Aye we are helpful but dont always have the right answer

BK i believe had decided what tyre to get and how much he could get it for and he was checking to see if the price quoted to him was ok
or did anyone on here know where to get it cheaper and worth the expence of the trip

either that or i got it totally wrong again :(

I think the conclusion was that we don't know, since it's a fitment only used on certain bikes...
