Just discovered a nice shiney screw in my recently fitted z6.

Straight through the tread. Probably about an off the centre line.

Been told so far by one bike shop, "you cannot repair ZR rated tyres, it's illegal" is this the case?

Cheers

I had a screw in my Contisport and I spoke to several tyre fitters that said as long as it is vulcanised professionally then it would not compromise the speedrating and is legal to do. Have you phoned around?

Cheers mate,

Thanks for the reply.

Did you get your tyre repaired?

Does anyone know what the typical charge is?

Yes, I have had a couple repaired. If you take the loose wheel in the repair cost was around £10 - £12

I had one repaired and it failed, the whole repair came out and left a large hole in the tyre, the shop that fitted it i think is a bit slack, they dont support the brakes properly when the remove them just let them hang etc.

I had the same issue when I was living in Fort William, none of the bike shops in Inverness would fix a puncture regardless of the puncture location they all insisted on a new tyre (and even then only after the old one was off), Glasgow was the closest and even then iirc it was just 1 shop that would. They all quoted 'We will not do it as we may be liable if the repair fails' which can be read - we are all a bunch of moneygrabbing to**ers.

However now living down in London, there is virtually no bikeshop that will refuse a repair IF its safe to do so (many many more bike shops than the 2 or 3 within 120 miles of where i was)

I had a nail in my Z6 and was repaired no probs. No issues with it at all (until I picked up another nail!) I'd say £10 - £15 for a loose wheel is about right, and make sure they rebalance
