In hindsight, maybe I should have gone straight for an R6.. I was advised not to get something that quick as my first bike but I think I would be ok as I think I have the self-discipline.
The insurance was a stumbling block too but if I look at one a few years old it's much better, still loads though :-(

Personal view Nick.....
Keep the SV for a year or so.....
Then you will have the no-claims to make the R6 insurance affordable.
I know where you are at with the "shiny shiny" of an R6, but that SV you have IS very nice.
Would love an R6, GXR6 etc, but cant justify the cost of the insurance, and to be honest I am not even near the limits of what the SV can do for me.
R6 is gorgeous, but I think too much of a handful on a new license.
I also think that you wont get £3.5k for a second hand SV - new ones can be had for just £500 more.
David
I would give you £2500 but I know i wouldn't accept that myself so wouldn't expect you to.
The bikes is a beauty. Only wish I had a bike like that! ;)
The R6 might be fun but head down and bum up is gonna seriously hurt, not too mention the insurance company quotes, robbing sods they are!

Cheers guys, appreciate the input, it's likely I will keep it longer if I can't get a decent price for it. Money is quite tight and i've just spent it all doing bits to the SV, hence the non-bargain price tag!
When I was looking to buy I considered a new SV but to be honest I didn't like the colours they came in and once i'd added the price of all the extras I wanted inc alarm it was over £4.5k. The K5 blue was the one!
I seem to have this problem - I keep looking at other bikes and thinking, hmmmm - That's nice! I could be riding that! The riding position of an R6 isn't an issue as I had an Aprilia RS125 which was a similar position and I use the bike purely for sunny sunday blasts, max 100 miles at a time.

Video added in original post - All offers considered :-)
Such a nice bike too,, try doing an online insurance quote for a R6 and add a few years to your age to see what it might cost if you wait a year or two, with a couple of no claims i think you might save a mint!!! Your best off making the mistakes on the SV rather than a pocket emptying R6!!
Don't give up the SV yet :(

I know what you're saying Rich.. and I have changed my mind!
Getting CBR600RR now!
Took one out on sat and loved it, it's exactly what I want in a bike. When I got back on the SV it felt too big, heavy and nowhere near as involving.. I see you share my feelings on the CBR!
Seriously the SV is a great bike and i'm very attached to mine since I did some mods myself but it's not the bike for me. I should have ridden a few before buying really.

Well CBR, thats a different story :smt038 . Good choice in bike and good luck with selling your SV, make sure it goes to a good home and make sure as part of the sale, no top box will ever be put on it

I've found a new bike so i'd take £3200 for mine while this other bike is still available... Feels like i'm giving it away :-(
It's a lovely bike mate but for 800 more a brand new one can be bought on 0% percent finance. I know you modded it and it looks swell but mods never normally increase the value of anything. (Just sold my car and feel i've been robbed but hey..)
good luck with the sale though. ;)

Don't make me feel any worse!!
A new one on the road with all the extras mine has costs around £5k.. So thats nearly a £2k saving and it's in a better colour! ( in my opinion! ;-) )
Mine is already run in aswell!

Sorry mate, but as said, extras dont add value to second hand bikes.
Why do you think Marcdbl stripped his K3 down and sold it all off separate, Simple Simon did the same.
If I was looking to buy an SV I would do what I did all over again, go for the new one on 0% rather than a second hand one with a few miles on it.
Or buy a really cheap £1500 one - but for the sake of a grand, I would buy new, as would many other people I think.
Bad news I fear, but its how I see it.

Well I would pay extra for one that had all the bits I wanted.. there must be more like me out there!
For what it's worth , I'm not saying I think it's worth more with mods.. I reckon it's worth £3200 as standard or with the extra bits..
For £3200 it's a good deal for someone. Not everyone wants to be paying for their bike on finance for the next 3 years, interest free or not.
Can't go any lower than £3200, i'd cry! :-(
Lol! I nearly did when i sold my car!
You're right, there is someone out looking for your bike and will pay what you ask. My advice is to re-list on ebay and have a low starting offer but reserve it at 3k.
You will hopefully get a few people hooked on it and they will outbid for it and you will get what you need. Works for me most times!

Mate, at the risk of sounding patronising, this sounds like a money pit waiting to happen. How much have you lost on the SV in depreciation? From the sounds of it, you will get the CBR, see something else, get fed up and then
lose money on that one. I went from a Ninja 6 to an SV and don't regret it.
That looks like a great SV you have there. Think about it carefully. Good Luck.

I always wanted a sports 600, either an R6 or a CBR but took the advice that a bike that fast wasn't a good idea as a first big bike. Hence the SV! But now I wish I had got the bike I wanted. I haven't lost too much on the SV itself but I've spent a few quid on bits and bobs.
I reckon the CBR ticks all the boxes for me. A weekend toy!

Got what I was after... not a sniff of interest then this weekend I got 2 calls from people wanting to see it and 3 emails off people very keen! Typical!
The search for a suitable CBR600RR starts now, found a couple of nice ones but miles away..
