With summer now in full swing and aproaching fast i pulled out the map and was looking at routes for a possible all day ride out, in short i was thinking nottingham area through the derbyshire dales, possible stop at matlock somewhere in there too. if people fancy it, and i hope you do. we can discuss a full route and take into account peoples locations and refine or change the ride so that it is equal or as near as so everyone can join in.
if we get the wether correct it should be a good day.
would be great to have big numbers though folks so please try and partake as it would be great to see everyone out, good pictures for the ORG and get the MIGTS group a bit more active within the ORG.
So please shine up your bikes and dust of your leathers and come out and have a laugh

cheers folks

Probably easier to say when we can't make it:D

Can't do weekend of 26th/27th May. Of with the Wales lot.

Can't do June 22nd to July 1st. In Austria.

Apart from that.................we're free:D

I'd be interested in a rideout if the date suits (I can only come out to play every other weekend).

I'm back on two wheels after a two year break, it's not an SV this time though - can I still come and play?

Seeing as I'm as good as West Midlands and I've never met a MIGT before I'd probably be up for it aswell, obviously date depending. I've never been that way on the bike so it would be good to see new roads and scenery. That is if you don't mind another non-SV coming along to ruin your SV:non-Sv ratios.

okey-dokey lissa will note that one, im thinking an all-dayer with matlock
as the lunch time chippy and chips stop, lots of nice twisty B roads and one or two nice straight A roads for all to dominate too. I'll have a really good look when i get home from work.

I can't make this Sunday as I'm already out this afternoon (the two guys I'm out with have just got new bikes - one got an R1 and the other an RSV in Fortuna colours, so they need running in) and next week is the wrong side of payday. Might make bank hol if the day and time suit, but otherwise any date after is good.

ps. went on "Via Michelin" to get a distance to Matlock (didn't have a clue where it was you see) and it came up with this:

Time: 01h34 including 01h00 on motorways
Distance: 88mi including 64mi on motorways
et 5mi on pleasant roads http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/img/iti/minitourism.gif

Ok so the times wrong but i think its worth the whole motorway route just to see what "pleasant roads" are. Besides, they won't be so pleasant with my twin Arrow race cans getting me an ASBO:D

Having had more time to think about dates, we've realised that this month is really not good for us. Pete is working tomorrow, next weekend is a bust for financial reasons, and the following weekend we're off in Wales. Bugger!

It's always the way though, whatever weekend you choose someone won't be able to make it. You'll just have to organise several.....that gives everyone a chance:D

Just got back from a 200 miler round Derbyshire - I'd forgotten just how good some of those roads are.

I've just stumbled across this thread. I have no plans for the 16th June, and could make Matlock in around 2hours 30. The most direct route would take me on the A623, lovely road that, and been meaning to do it the backwards way around.

It'd be a long day for me, but I'm game.

I'll need to know a meeting point and time before I know for definite though. A mere 114miles to get to Matlock. Easy.

Just make sure the route involves a full day's riding!! As things stand, put me down as meeting you wherever you decide. I'll post back later if I can't make it for any reason.

It'll give me a chance to compare the Welsh roads that everyone was saying were so good last weekend.

Well done that man! 16th June works for me so far (but things can crop up). Maybe the MIGTS are alive and kicking after all.

As to the route - some from the West Mids expressed an interest so maybe a start in between? If you want a hand with arrangements let me know.

Yeah please Keith that would be great, i have a route inmind but as i said i cant remember many of the really good roads, and as you say we have West midlanders fancying a ride and on that one i dont have a clue,

No need to think like that mate.

Seriously, just tell me where & when to meet everyone else, and I'll just follow the bike in front of me all day. The journey down the A623 & back will make it worth the motorways to get to Stockport from me. I've done that road once, and said when I did it that I should make the effort to do it again.

The rest of it is partly for the social bit, and partly because I'm on the bike at every opportunity anyway.

The way I did the Wales ride was just to build it up bit by bit. Arrange the meet point first, then the route was sorted (thanks to Luckypants) and tweaked a little. Then time of the meet sorted. Second day was decided on the morning.

I'm just fortunate that so long as you stay away from the coast in North Wales, you have good roads in all directions.

If it's not that far from Matlock to Bassets Pole, I could always meet at Bassets Pole, tag along, then when you lot double back, I just continue on home. Obviously depends on time & how good the roads are, but still.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it, Tamworth. 3hours ride ish. Not bad, depends on the time to meet, I don't fancy setting off much before 6am :p

Bassets Pole is just North of Sutton Coldfield on roundabout of A38/A453/A446 - Coming from Wales you can follow the A5 from M6 J12 then follow A38 to Bassets Pole. It's on your way to the E Mids.

EDIT - Sorry , missed your EDIT

Bassets Pole to Matlock about 50 miles through country roads

Whoever's organising it (by that I mean keeping a list of those attending, meeting place, time etc - routes can be done by others), I reckon should stick a post up in the rideouts section. That'd probably be you then lylej :p

Might get some other folks that are willing to travel for the ride from outside the MIGTS area too, which would be nice.

For the North Wales ride, I did the above, and we were expecting possibly 10bikes. 7 showed up for day 1, and there were only 2 for day 2.

What time you planning on landing at Matlock, I live about 20 miles away from there....towards chesterfield way.Might be able to nip down at lunchtime (depends on prior kiddie commitments)....so cant put myself down as a definite.

If you see an old bird trotting up and down on a silver naked sv, with possible a red vfr in tow...its probably me, so say hello. but if I am not around...then have a good day.

Yeah, you don't want to do the A38:( .

Lichfield, A515 to Ashbourne then would have said the B5035 past Carsington Water, but they've recently put in loads of double whites[-X , so maybe A517 to Belper then A6 up which is what we did on the way back from Matlock. Nice road I seem to remember.

Ok folks, i think we have a good enough respose for the 16th of june, it a saturday, going with keiths help and route: try and be @ Bassets pole by 10am, and we will set off at about 20 past, i should be there by about ten to.

Keiths idea : Basset's Pole, ride to Matlock, have some lunch (fish n chips mmmmm.) Then up A6 to Buxton and up to Cat & Fiddle. Short stop there then back to Ashbourne,

this to me sounds a good run, and a day out so thanks keith for sorting that for us most appreciated mate.
i was in matlock today testing the chippys out for us all too lol, ;)

Hope this is all good for everyone interested
keep posting and lets make sure we get as many people as we can to go,

Can I ask that someone who knows the route can run both head & tail please.

We did this on the North Wales run (until Luckypants' unfortunate incident) and it works well. There were 7 bikes out on the day, and we happily split up into 2 groups, everyone riding however they felt comfortable. Just makes the day more enjoyable if there's any novice riders that aren't comfortable at full out blat pace.

I'm not fussed about pace, and it'll more depend on my mood on the day. But if you want as many folks as possible, it's obviously better that everyone is made comfortable.

Everyone should remember though, to ride their ride, and not go chasing the bike in front. Had to do if you're not used to group riding.

Hi all just a quick question, if people dont mind, for those who go id like to take some photos, and also a group photo also hopefully with everyones bikes but it might not be possible if loads of us turn out, but saying that if its cool with everyone else i can make copies and either email or send you a print. ( any excuse for me to use my slr lol, ).

Email would be better for me, and I don't object to photo's. Bike won't be clean though

I'm hoping it arrives in time, but I should be able to test out my bullet cam on this ride too. So I hope no-one minds video's being taken of them :D (Kwak, just for your bike, I'm putting the suncap on the lens, and maybe even a dark tint lens!!)

Photos and videos??? Damn it! I'm not getting my new leathers until the beginning of July when Streetbike get their next delivery in:( . Oh well you'll just have to put up with my old scabby Frank Thomas 2-piece, unless of course its raining (which it better not be).

Anyway Baph, don't matter if the bike is dirty as kwak might be there so its always going to look dirty against that thou:D

Don't tell him, but I'm planning on leaving a tube of autosol & a rag on the bike. I'm sure his OCD will kick in sooner or later... :-dd

As far as I know it's 10am bassetts pole on the 16th. As you said yourself kwak, the more the merrier.

So long as we have a lead who knows the route, and a couple of drop off riders (I don't mind doing this, but it all depends where I am in the pack) then it shouldn't really be a problem no matter how many bikes are there.

Aye, it'll be a good prelude to the AR if there's around 15 in total. I doubt it'll be that big, but hell, I'm game no matter what the size of the group.

Fingers crossed there'll be another not too far away! :)

I'll see you at McDonalds too, not far out of the way for me - I live in Mickleover. Suggest meeting there about 9:15. Will PM you my mobile number.

Cheers Keith

As I volunteered to sort the route out I will start another thread so it doesn't get lost in all the other stuff. Cheers Keith

My GF has just reminded me that we have tickets for Muse at Wembley on the 16th (slight oversight :geek: )

Some other time then....
