View Full Version : Thinking of selling already...

Am thinking of getting rid of the Z1000. Maybe even this year......:-?

They are just far too common these days!:p

Seriously, I LOVE the look of it but when ridden hard they can seem a little wobbly (the windblast at 160 is interesting). I have been riding my Hornet more for fun lately and I feel that as a naked that bike is probably almost as good. Okay it's lacking midrange and top end on the Zed but it's still heaps of fun! So I ask myself why do I need 2 naked bikes? So I have had a look about and think I will go for a ZX-6R next, the 2006 model. Might be this year maybe next, I miss that feeling from a supersports.

How many bikes have you had in how many years? Plus didn't you get rid of your SV because of the riding position?

But the SV is just not committed enough of a sports bike to put you off sports bikes for the position. Plus you'll have the Hornet for commuting so I say Do it! I knew you didn't get a green helmet for a reason

So a ZX-6R isnt common?

I thought you talked about a ZX-10R a while back?

I love Ninja's always have and always will, as long as they are still mad bikes. I think the ZX10 would be a little too expensive, both cost wise and insurance wise for me just yet. I got rid of the SV because I was commuting on it and it was uncomfortable. I have the Hornet for commuting now so it doesn't have to be so comfy. Besides, the SV was not quite a SS600! The Zed is one of the prettiest bikes around and that's why I bought it (plus the fact that I pretty much knew I could make some money from it) but now I want the mad performance of a modern SuperSportsbike again plus the fairing to keep the wind away! Going to look at a lovely '06 Ninja this week.

OKay, well just had a talk with the boss (wife) and have decided to keep the Zed for this year and sell it on next year. So it's safe for now! :p

Can't you sell & buy well at no cost? You said you got a good deal buying the Zed.

I liked your approach with the Boss when you bought the Zed.

Well I bought for £4 and can sell as it is for about £4'500. I can pick up a good cond' 2005/2006 ZX6R for about £4 - £4.5k, so should not have to put my hand in my pocket too much. The only thing is that the Zed would have depreciated another year and probably got another 3000 miles on the clock but if I keep it tidy should still fetch about £3'500 - £4k. I'm working on getting rid of it sooner but I found out my mate has not settled the finance anyway, so in reality that dictates when I can sell it as he will need another 6- 8 months to clear it. If it was clear now, I would have had a ZX6R already got bored of it and traded it for a ZX10 already and probably lost my licence.

V Twins do sound good, but when the SS600 pulls his arms out of their sockets there would be no going back!

Hmmh, looks nice but I've never liked them. The one I rode (1999) was really twitchy. Plus they don't do it in green.:p

the new z750 looks way better than the new z1000. although i REALLY like the orange you can get the new z1000 in, it just looks a bit fat to me and i don't like the front indies in the fairing and there's too much fairing...

will someone buy an aprilia shiver for me please?

If I win the lottery I will buy a bike for all the GM members.*

*Zero chance of that happening as I never buy a ticket, but it's the thought that counts hey? ;)

My mate's got an '06 Ninja 6. It's lovely. Black is definitely the best colour too- but then I've never really been sold on Kwak green!

I have to agree - the black ZX6's look great as its modern shape suits it. But the green is the only colour for the ZX7 and 9s - I think the rounder shape and colour go well together. A little more old school classic GP race look. I would love a go on all but I like the ZX7 lookswise the best.

Don't worry Law I wont be getting a new bike for quite some time!

Only had three bikes in my life so far, SR125 that I crashed and never worked the same, SV650s and well we know what happened to that and the Suzuki GSXR600.

Gotta agree Lee a 750 would be a next step for me I think.

Well.................I bought the first one not long after doing this to a lovely VFR and basically it was too much too soon:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/dan1677/wreckedviffer6.jpg

I bought the second one about 2 years ago but had lots of niggly electrical problems so sold it on. Was sad to see it go but I will have one again.
