So i've spent most of the winter and spring messing around with the sv and its finally complete........almost.
still to do is the mot on monday then the baffle in the exhaust can come out and the smaller plate and brake light can go on. Seat unit could do with a bit of a fiddle with too.
Its going to get used on the track the majority of the time but its a nice option to have getting it road legal ish.

Thanks for the comments people.
The screen is a zero gravity double bubble of a gsxr thou k5 so thats why it looks so tall. Agree it does look out of proportion but i'm a big lad and the standard screen was useless at offering any sort of wind protection.
The M4 can is not stamped up anywhere saying not for road use etc but i suspect mr plod would be upset with me as it is quite loud. They dont normally come with a baffle i've retro fitted one to please MOT man on monday. I bought it online from the states the website was called pipe city or similar???
It worked out cheaper buying it that way then getting it from the uk.

I got the sv cheap because it was a cat c write off so it was a case of thats what i started with.

I would like a gsxr too but i prefer the latest shape k6 onwards one and my budget doesnt stretch to the £5000+ i'd need to buy one. Even if i did get one then i'd end up spending more money on mods anyway :D
maybe i'll keep my sv as a track bike and see about the gixxer or similar next year but then i also would like a supermoto and i'm also really liking the kawasaki z750 at the moment............i want i want i want:sad:

That is a REALLY good looking SV! My only comment is that the chain looks rusty in the first pic. Having said that, my rusty chain is the best thing on my sv, so congrats mate, you have done very well!

That bike looks sweet as!

That is just too nice for words.
Looks like I have my work cut out if my project is to look anywhere near as good as that.
Well done fella - nice job.
Now that is a proper SV! Suzuki take note, you should be building these. For all those commenting that you should have bought a Gixxer in the first place; bullocks, I love Gixxers too but they don't sound half as nice and are almost always way much better than their riders, which is intimidating. To me your SV is perfection in fun factor. Prosit! (well done!)
Oh, put lights on it. It'll be a pity not to use this on the road too.

How did you do the GSX-R Tail end conversion? How much did it cost?

What MOT will you have for it :?: I presume you'll only get a 'Daytime only' MOT :?:
Also, looking at the first picture, you may have an issue with the No. plate rubbing on the rear wheel, you'll need to increase the angle of the plate to prevent this...

I'm impressed by what you've done to an SV but it just looks like a gixxer to me.
I guess it will sound a hell of a lot better though. Can I ask how much the project has cost you?
It certainly would confuse me seeing that thinking it's a gixxer but then noticed the thumping V twin........good work all round!

Its on a daytime only MOT, it passed on monday. I think its strange that to pass a daylight only mot you have to have absolutely no lights surely riding without a brakelight is very dangerous. I have subsequently fitted one.
I had a smaller number plate (7x5) that i fitted after the MOT which i thought would give me enough clearance but as you have correctly identified there is an issue with the rear wheel.
Note the i had a smaller plate comment... the back wheel smashed it into pieces whilst out on some very bumpy roads yesterday:smt076
I then spent the next 20 mins riding home on a bike with no lights or mirrors and no number plate trying not to get stopped by the police.
I'll have to get that sorted and also its not very nice riding on the road with out mirrors.
Thanks for the comments.

I think the screen is a little too tall for it; whats it like with the standard GSXR screen? Otherwise, very impressive

He's about 8 feet tall, so that screen's probably a bit on the small side :)
I get the "why not buy a GSXR comments", but GSXR track fairings are easy to find and fit well so when replacing all the skin anyway you can go with pretty much whatever you want. Check out any minitwins grid for good examples of this! The rest of it's just common sense, more or less, cheaper to fit GSXR forks than to make SV forks work as well as GSXR forks do, and you can always upgrade them further if you want, and you get the brakes as well. And the tail sits on a custom race subframe, if you look carefully.
I likes it. It looks like an Alien. But I'm trying to think how long ago it was when he turned up at mine buying a set of standard forks, to put it back to stock. That plan worked out well I thought ;)

dan, I'd hazard a guess at "less than yours" :) But, could be wrong.

You reckon?
It looks like he has spend a fortune on it.
Oh, put lights on it. It'll be a pity not to use this on the road too.
Daytime MOT requires no lights at all, not even a brake light. You can get away with a horn, and that's it as far as electrical equipment is concerned. My SV is getting the same treatment at the moment, only mine will be silver (I already own one all black bike)
And the tail sits on a custom race subframe, if you look carefully.
If you're clever you can fit the K5 tail to a stock subframe, I've seen it done.

Dude, if this is the result of you just "messing around". I'd love to see what you can do what you start trying hard... this is one very very sexy bike.
Like JT said about his Big Mac - I'm lovin' it!

Why would you assume that ALL people aspire to a GSXR? That SV is much more exclusive than a 'greater spotted' Gixxer, with the added knowledge that it's all his own work.
It's like assuming that all car drivers aspire to a BMW, Merc. etc. Er, No Thanks. :smt099

i'm not getting on with the pazzo levers they are pretty hard for me to use tbh.
dont get me wrong they look really really nice but i got the shorty ones thinking i could 2 finger brake and i find that i end up using three fingers for braking and a fist still on the clutch which just doesnt fit.
you might be different but i'm not a fan.
next on the shopping list for me is a bling bling radial master cylinder probably a brembo so them pazzo levers will be for sale (after summer when i've paid my holidays off tho)

I love the Pazzo shorty on my m/c, works really well with the 18mm Brembo... but I can't see it working on the clutch side, not for in-town riding anyway. Keep on meaning to get a full-size lefty to balance things out.

What was the damage to the original SV?? Doesn't look too severe in the original pic on page 2??
Oh, and have another "sweeeeeeeet" comment ;-)

damage to the bike when i got it was as follows
forks bent
top cowl scratched
right indicator broken
front brake lever missing
r/h rearset missing
rear light missing
seat pad and grab rail missing
rear plastics damaged
battery dead
rear brake light loom chopped
the bike had clearly been in a front end smash but the parts missing from the rear of the bike where removed by a hacksaw or similar.
I think somebody must have taken fancy the the rear light and just chopped off the back end. The brake lever and rearset had been unbolted too.
