View Full Version : My Pointy SV Sport
I thought i would post a picture of my bike with my nephew on it.
I'm in two minds at the moment and struggling to resist the temptation of playing about with it.
In one respect i want to get parts like tailtidy and rear can etc, but the other devil on the other shoulder is telling me to keep it as it is, in mint condition for a year then trade it in for a GSXR750or1000.
Either way for now and learning on I cant fault it or think of a better bike.
The only down side is sometimes I feel the front end is too soft, but i have no balls to start playing around with settings :(

Theres no reason you cant tweek it, as long as you keep the standard bits, so you can return it to stock before you sell it you'll be fine.
Then you can flog the non standard bits on here or ebay and make a little extra money on the deal.
I think it will have to be an end can at the very least as you can hear anything but wind over 70mph :smt104 shameful really for a motorbike.

I tricked mine even when I knew I was going to have to sell it - wished I'd done it sooner, esp the can.
And, as FW says, I made money (well, I didn't lose any) when I sold the bike as stock and the trick bits went different ways.

Nice mate
What is the difference between an SV650S & an SV650S Sport (apart from the lower fairing :?: :-k)

Cloggsy, I got a sport the other week, nothing different apart from Lowers and seat cowl. I didn't even get the little SPORT sticker that came on the silver one in my dealers :(
Graeme, just got my blue flame exhaust on tonite, barks like wolf now as opposed to a mouse, change your can!!
Yeah iam no expert but i think its just the lower fairings, seat cowl and a sticker that says sport :smt045 so bugger all except people with the sport didnt have to pay and have fitted the extra bits.
Think in the manual it says that the suspension is on a stiffer setting front and rear, but not sure whether that difference is between the SV and SVS.
I know i need one Ian...i will wait till i have heard one in the flesh first, as if i use it for work i have to set off at 7.30 and dont want to wake the world up.
Really nice bike! I really like it!! :D
I'd like to make mine a "sport", but don't now if I bother putting the extra money in it, when I'm possibly gonna sell it in a year or so..
Not the right place, but I'll just throw in a question; I have to cut of my original can to change, yeah? There's no removable link there?
Yeah unfortunately you do have to cut it.....that my problem at the moment debating whether i really want to cut it or not.

I just cut mine and got a new zorst. It is awesome, well worth doing!

Its tricky. I personally have changed the can, the screen, seat cowl, and number plate/tail tidy. But my other half swears by keeping it standard, he thinks there are less standard bikes about then fiddled with bikes!! Guess he could have a point !
Looks great as it is, but the sound of a sweet can is lovely :)
Standard bikes are so yesterday ;)
I could not live with the snow shovel.....really ruins a nice bike IMO but each to his own

Mod it. YOu have eactly the same bike in the same colour as me. I had cut the staock off and put a Remus on at only 21 miles.
Its a bit like eating pringles though, once you start..........

Im picking my braqnd spanking new blue sport up on saturday, omg that's tomorrow! Im as excited as a little kid at christmas, any noteworthy points I should know, I've been on a yellow 1999 s for the last year or so. Thought since I'd managed to not bin it (by luck more than judgement) I'd treat my self to a shiny new bike!

So you got rid of a better looking and faster, not to mention a better colour (Hovis:thumright: ) for an SVsport? ;)
Only kidding mate. Enjoy your new motor. Glad you stuck with a twin.

Lol, I like the curvy shaped models but thought that most fairing lowers for them looked like ill fitting afterthoughts, Im sure I'll upset a few with those comments! Initially I was going to do my curvy up and get it sprayed but with the price and offers on new at the minute I couldn't resist! As for faster, where does that come from, ure surely not telling me that the curvy's are quicker?
think he was childishly commenting on the colour (cheesey yellow!!!) Obviously black is fastest but these bananas like to think otherwise ;)

Snap - picking mine up this Sunday (same model and colour as this thread) and am the most excited boy in the world, despite being of an age indicative of a mid-life crisis :D
so excited in fact that I surfed the web, found a forum, joined and felt compelled to spread my glee.
P.S. Great forum guys, especially liked the "Always wear yer ferkin leathers. Graffic images.". Well done 'BigApe' for helping others to learn a lesson.

Where abouts are you getting it from?
I'm ashamed to admit that I’m a very late developer to the biking community and only recently passed my direct access course and despite driving for 20 years, i had the same nerves as a teenager (but passed so chuffed). That said, i realise that despite the DSA saying I'm capable of riding, that doesn't make me a good rider. So I asked about, did my research and everywhere i looked the SV came up as the ideal bike. So with the right kit, bike and most importantly attitude, I hope to have many years of trouble free biking. I’m looking forward to learning something new every day by clocking up hours on the road and talking to like minded people (hence my decision to join this forum).
Oh yeah you asked a question - From a dealer down south (George White).
