cigar socket lead

As anyone added one of these to their bike, if so how easy is it.
Thinking of adding one for camping and satnav.

Not that perticular one, no, but I have a socket on my bike.

Wire + connectors + socket + solder = socket fitted.

I've wired an inline switch into mine, and taken the feed straight from the battery. I used to have it relay activated by ignition, but it's nice to sometimes use a little power (eg, tyre pump) without the engine running or full ignition on.

Oh yea, hopefully if you're using that one it has an inline fuse as well. Better safe than sorry.

I have one too, just bought a cheap one from my local factors (it had crocodile clips to connect to a car battery but I cut them off). I bought a relay switch to do something clever and safer but never bothered in the end, its been wired direct across the battery now for a year and I've never accidently left anything connected, plus it has an inline fuse too.

I've only used mine for powering the ipod (damn ipod batteries!) but was fine for that.

If you already have an opti-mate / accumate connector wired onto your battery, then this will plug directly onto that, making it really simple. Will unplug to allow the opti-mate to be connected.

I've got a socket at home, though it depends on which bike I take to the AE to which one I wire up.

Wired one through on the number plate light so is ignition controlled. Great for blowing up the airbed when camping- but get a few strange looks from the 'biker' fraternity ;o)

HAHA, ok so I get a permanent fused connection lead hooked up to the battery, then have the cigar socket hooked upto that ( which means it should be long enough to go any where on the bike) and bob's your uncle.:D
With no splicing and soldering I should be able to do that, er I think :scratch::-k

OK so this is what I have done bought 2 of these :-
Maplin Cigarette Lighter Extension Lead

An extension lead with a plug at one end to fit the cigarette lighter socket in a car, and a socket at the other end to accept a cigarette lighter-type plug. The lead extends to approximately 3 7m and the plug is fused with a replaceable 3A fuse and has a built-in power-on red LED indicator. Maximum current is 3A.

I cut the first one down to just the wire and socket and attached it to the battery then fed it through to the tool box underneath the seat. There is plenty of wire to extend it another 2 feet away from the bike ( until I decide to put it somewhere more permanent ).
The other extension lead will be plugged into the first one for charging equipment. This seems cool because it allows me to reach inside a tent etc and has worked out cheaper if I had gone for the Accumate leads.
So have I made a mistake or is this ok,

Sounds good to me... as long as the one on your bike is fuse.
