Hey all, I'm looking to add a DB screens to my curvy and I've read most threads. Problem is it's all over the place and it's difficult to get a good feel for what each screens does, cause everyone is of a different height.
The wind is now hitting my upper body and up (6'2). If I understand correctly you either want the wind to go over your helmet, which will be increasingly difficult with increasing height and depending on the make of the DB screen or you want it to hit just below your helmet. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here). As far as looks go I probably prefer the Powerbronze for now.
So to get a better picture of what each screens does to each rider I would like start a DB screen thread where everyone lists all relevant information:
1 Curvy or Pointy?
2 Height? (6'2 here)
3 What make is your DB screen?
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)?
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)?
6 How is the fit/finish
7 Got any pics?
P.S. I know there are a lot of DB threads, but since not everyone gives all information it's very hard to estimate what screen is best for what rider.

1 Curvy or Pointy? Curvy
2 Height? 6'0
3 What make is your DB screen? Fabbri
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)?
Made my head wobble all over the place at 80+ mph
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)?
Head doesn't wobble, although still get a bit of wind to head and body. Comfy sat up to 90-95 mph, tend to crouch down for autobahn cruising at 100 mph +
6 How is the fit/finish
Fit is pretty good, went in reasonably well. The finish is very good, looks smart, and gets comment from others, incl non SV riders.
7 Got any pics?

1 Pointy
2 6'2"
3 Puig
4 Original screen was a visor down job after 35-40mph
5 Puig DB is a visor down job at 65ish (no rain). Bit of buffeting around my head at 80+. Its definitely not high enough for my height, but I'm not sure any screens are perfect for 6' plus without looking ridiculous
6 Really well made, even come with screen trim. Fits perfectly, and the seller on ebays p&p is excellent.
7 http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/gettin2dizzy/IMG_0071.jpg
1 Curvy or Pointy? = Pointy
2 Height? = 5'7"
3 What make is your DB screen? = Fabbri
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)? = On the shoulders and face, gets worse with speed.
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)? = In the face, gets better over 80mph. Still a bit noisy but protected a lot more from the wind.
6 How is the fit/finish = Excellent

Thanks so far guys, those are exactly the kind of responses I was looking for. Think this is the most informative for people looking for DB screens like myself. Keep them coming. :smt023
1 Curvy or Pointy?
Pointy
2 Height?
5'4"
3 What make is your DB screen?
Fabbri
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)?
Erm.. had the DB screen for ages, I think I didn't really notice it in a racing crouch.
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)?
Bit more noisy (wind vortex I think), quieter if I don't crouch as much.
6 How is the fit/finish
Alright, very small gap on the rhs (as you sit on the bike) between fairing and screen.

Here is another shot from a curvy Powerbronze DB screen:

I think it looks very well integrated into the design of the bike, as if it was designed with it from the start.

+1 i got a lighter smoked off ebay
1 Curvy or Pointy? - curvy
2 Height? - 5'11"
3 What make is your DB screen? - Airblade (iridium)
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)? - right in the chest
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)? - about visor height - fine up to about 80 but then I need to hunker down a bit
6 How is the fit/finish - spot-on on both counts
7 Got any pics? - yup, hang on.....

I got that shot from this site: http://www.kgcycles.com/serv01.htm
It's under Joe diPuma, he indeed lists it as a Powerbronze Airflow screen. Think it's the same as the one Billy posted earlier. Some people consider it less good because the turbulent wind hits the helmet. Guess it depends on your height and preference. Perhaps it would have been better if it was a bit lower so it took the wind of the chest but not as high as the helmet.
Some of the brands still open:
Ermax
Gravity Zero
Puig (Curvy)
MDI
MRA
Nuvo
PS. I like the shape of the airblade one as well, don't seem to offer a clear one though, only light smoked, dark smoked and iridium.

Are there any rules on / laws against having a dark tinted screen? (i know there is for visors), as i'm considering buying one...

However, i found that the powerbronze that i had fitted to my sv for a while (Until i stuck my foot through it during an off) worked a lot better. F.Fabbri screens have the same sort of bubble.
I have had a Puig, Airbladex2(still have them, but lugs broken off), std(current screen) & Powerbronze. Out of all of them, the Powerbronze was the best at the job. Hope this helps?

No screen as in a DB screen, a touring (flip up) screen might do the trick? Not that I'm looking for a touring screen, but just to be clear to other users looking for screens.

Since I have one my self now I will add mine as well:
1 Curvy or Pointy? Curvy.
2 Height? 6'2 here
3 What make is your DB screen? Powerbronze
4 Where did the wind hit ya with the original screen (possibly speed)? Wind hit me on the chest.
5 Where does it hit ya with the DB screen and how comfortable/noisy is it (speed)? Now it hit's me just at the bottom of my helmet, chest is free of wind, arms still catch some wind but with my new tighter leather jacket that will be better as well. It's very comfortable now till about 70mph, above that turbulence gets a bit wilder, but still more comfortable than original. A touring screen is more comfortable for long motorways trips, but it's still okay.
6 How is the fit/finish? Excellent. Mine is light smoke which looks very good on my yellow/black bike in my view.

Patience, Ricerocket, patience. As soon as I've got the cash together it's Airblade Iridium time, specially having seen peanut's pics - the Iridium finish looks excellent with the blue. Pictures will follow.

slightly removed from double bubble screens, has anyone tried / got one of these little "aerofoils" that stick onto the standard screen ?
Do they work?
Are they dear ?
as good as a DB screen ?

Fitted a Fabbri today and its made quite an impact
1 Curvy
2 5'8 but i'm more torso than legs (so maybe 5'9-5'10 height when seated)
3 Fabbri
4 Mostly chest and arms at all speeds
5 Runs over shoulders + the base of my helmet from 60mph+ don't notice any wind now below 60 (feels like i'm in a bubble?).
6 Not perfect but pretty good, about a 1-2mm gap on left hand side but the rest seems flush from my pov

They work for people racing the TT, so I would say yes they work.
