So problem now is that I cannot change the firmware to an unofficial one
does any1 know of any good forums or knows if there's anything I can do with it?
cheers
A mate who dabbles with his PSP alot says you cant do anything yet, but will be able to soon....

i can't do anything on it
I think you'll find you can play games, listen to music, watch movies, store photos, oh, all sorts of things with 3.10
Why not try some of that to pass the time? ;-)

Nope anything above 2.72 requires fiddly stuff (specific version of GTA) and anything over 3.0 is not fixable.
But as said, give them a while and see what happens.
Just dont upgrade any further.
Just got an 8Gb MS Pro Duo for mine, the Camera is on its way from Amazon and USB Mini-B extension cables are here today.
PSP Based Bike-cam anyone :)
that's a good idea dude u know!!!
PSP Bike-cam ;)

Only reasonable forum is http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk all the others have had "issues" in the past.
Downgrade and change to Open Edition FW is simple - done both of my PSP's now, as well as my Brother In Laws and a mates.
but i guess this is sthing i cannot do on my current fw 3.10

Nope.
Case of waiting for them to come up with a downgrader.
There are rumours of a mod-chip, but that would be a pain to fit.
You could sell it and then buy a pre-2.72 Firmware one - there are ads on the psp-news site, but might cost a couple of quid to do it that way.
BTW both of my PSP's are non-uk ones (Japanese ones) one bought online and the other in Singapore.
Black one was a 1.50fw, the White 2.something, both downgraded no problem

nah i'll choose to wait cause this is brand new and knowing my luck i'll probably swap it and then a day l8r the downgrader will become available

Every time I buy a new game for mine it makes me upgrade so the game works :???:

My PSP is running 3.30 firmware (and I have an upgrade to 3.40 awaiting)
However it also has the files on it to allow it to run home-brew apps and the like.
Its just that its "special" firmware :)

I guess I just need to figure out what a downgrade/special firmware will give me. I assume hacked games...but I'm not generally bothered about buying the games. What else can it do for me? I would have thought downloaded vids, etc, can still be played for example.

Ebook Reader, PDF readers, the ability to play any PS1 game (well most of them anyway) also the ability to dump games off the UMD disk and play them from MS - which is quicker, means I can carry more games at once and uses less battery to load.
