I dont beleive there was ever Wendys here. Wimpy yes. Evidence?

Edit, there were 7 apparently once in London. They underperformed and closed. Square burgers, you see.

Actually now you mention it I do remember a Wendies in the UK!
It's bugging me as I can't remember where the heck it was!

But yes they are a US thing really.

Seems they only (had) 40 EMEA branches spread around the countries and they closed 7 UK Outlets in 1999.

Wendy's did pretty good burgers but as mentioned ealier they were square for some reason. There was one at a motorway stop I remember (just) and in East London. There was also a Huckleburry's who used to put this special sauce which looked like cream in the burger. Mind you, the Wendy's chilli sauce was to di........., erm, I mean very good :p

We went to wendys in florida as well Lumpy, the kids liked the burgers and wifey liked the baked potato. I thought they were ok and they always seemed freshly cooked. We never had a problem getting any amount of extra sauce but there again we tried that old english trick of saying please followed by thank you with a smile.

I remember eating at the Wendys that used to be on Oxford Street back in the early 80s and the burgers were BIG (kinda big like the Big Tasty that McDs did for a while) and the whole novelty of the square burgers...well what more could a pre-pubescent fat boy want? lol

there was even a Wendys on shaftsbury avenue up until a few years ago that some of the other soho massive might recal seeing.

Anyway back to the topic. Ive heard of McD's employees shooting off into the mayo but this
