I had my bike up on the abba stand today (with the front jacked up too)for cleaning and i noticed that my front wheel doesn't rotate very freely when i give it a shove. Is this normal?
If i lift my bicycle front wheel of the ground and give it a shove, it will do about 5 or 6 full rotations before it stops - but my sv front wheel only does about a quater turn. There is also a very faint noise - almost like a rubbing noise.
I was thinking maybe the wheel bearings are knackered, or the brakes pads are rubbing, or maybe its normal and they're all like that.
What to u reckon? :why: :why:

That doesnt sound right, I'd be looking at my front brakes binding if that were me.
How does it feel when you push it around is it hard work ?

not really - i don't notice it when i push the bike around. infact i've never noticed it untill i had the front wheel jacked up for the first time today.
i'm going to see spanner man for a service on thursday - hopefully he'll sort me out then if i've not got it sussed before then.
I'd bet it's brakes binding too. Take one caliper off, spin the wheel, and see if it's freed it at all, then the other, spin again. Then look up one of the many articles on cleaning brakes.

Sounds pretty normal to me. There's always some friction between the pads and the disks.

Yes, there should be some pressure constantly running through the system, but the front wheel, IME, should be able to do at least one revolution.
The brake pads should only just be kissing the surface of the disc. :)
How long has it been since the brake caliper pistons were cleaned? Have you ridden it through Winter since then?
:)
