View Full Version : Gear linkage - will one from an SV1000 fit?

Good afternoon all!

Can anyone tell me if the gear linkage from an '07 faired SV1000 would fit an '03/'04 faired SV650?

My friend is in the unfortunate position of having lost the gear linkage rod which links the gear lever to the actuator mechanism on the gearbox. I have an unused SV1000 so can lend him the part if it's interchangeable.

The trouble is that he lives two hundred miles away and I don't want to trek all the way out there to find out it doesn't fit.

Thanks in advance!

on the k5 onwards the foot peg was changed a little but the gear change rod should be the same.

Well, we'll soon see as the Wifey has gone out to see said friend with the 1000's gear linkage. :)

From speaking to some dealers yesterday, they reckon the faired 1000's linkage is slightly longer than the faired 650's.

Rather annoyingly, nobody was willing to sell me a new 650's linkage from a showroom bike, reckoning that those SVs would soon be walking out the showroom within the next couple of days, never mind the fact that they still require PDI-ing.

For those with a curious nature, it seems that the gear linkage from the faired 1000 does indeed fit the faired 650, despite warnings to the contrary from the bike shops.

Fingers crossed. :)
