My wife has small hands and has trouble gripping the grab rail cos its so chunky. I've seen the renntec sports racks but ideally just wanted a handle.

Does anyone know if a handle from another bike fits?

Cheers

I sympathise with your wife.................Pete reckons I have the hands of a 5 year old:D

I don't actually use the grab rail anyway, so the size of it isn't a factor, but we also have a renntec rack, and that would be really nice and small for your wife to hold on to.

No idea about other grab rails, sorry.

no idea about an alternative, but grab rails are often referred to as sissy bars by those of US persuasion.

don't know if any other grab rails from otrher bikes fit but if you really don't want a rack on it how about one of those ventura things? you can get a grab rail to fit them or how about getting a local welding/fabricatgion place to make you one up? shouldn't thnk it would cost to much for thatr?

if not go with the rack and take it off when the wife isn't on board it's only 2 bolts that hold it on

agreed.

my missus loves mine...

and they have a better feel for the rider too. ( we are talking about a belt which goes around the rider which the pillion hold on to.. non of you filthy minded stuff [-X )

I would agree. My missus uses love handles and thinks there great. I dont think she has ever used the grabrail since we got them

My girlfriend has exactly this issue, was thinking about asking this on here, so is the general consensus that love handles work?

yeah i used the love handles yesterday when i took my ten year old son out for first time. he felt comfortable and i felt happy as I could feel him pull on them when i accelerated.

I have the same problem with my girlfriend complaining that she doesn't feel safe holding on the curvy's stock grabhandle. She also get's tired holding with her shoulders back all that time. Side handles such as those found on the Versys or ER6's seem to be comfier and safer for pillions. think I'll try manufacture my own... has anyone tried his hand on fabricating anything on these lines?

Could you not shape the plastic at all? Maybe cut the existing one in half and flip it round using the existing bolt holes?

I thought that 'sissy bars' were like a stretched-up grab handle for a pillion to lean against like a backrest?

I don't think that wanting to hold onto a bike doing 70mph is particularly sissy-like lol :smt072

fit a rear seat back rest like on a custom chopper :) or a back box with some padding

I fitted a Givi back box with back rest which is great as it fits two hemets inside as well making it very practical. Still, having a good grabrail to hang on to is more reasuring. Rear grabrails are more of a fashion item than practical. I think good side grabrails should be enforced by law otherwise the pillion is in danger on a bike.
