I was think of getting a PDA style mobile that can intergrate properly with outlook (windows) and hopefully with a gps reciever and some capacity for proper storage for music (2gb +)

The storage can be in the form of an expandable card, SD would be great but mini SD seems to be popular.

I was looking at something running windows mobile, is it any good?

A decent camera would be a bonus as well.

Any ideas, cheers

I can go down the contract route but tops of £35 a months, would like it to be less.

Got an XDA Orbit myself, have had a few XDA's now, so you can tell I like 'em

In fact, I still have my XDA Mini S with a couple of extras incl a memory card if you're interested? PM me for more info... :D

HTC P3300 here (original version of one of those XDAs, can't be arsed to find which one). WM5 with promised official upgrade to WM6, great GPS chip + antenna (SIRFstar III), 2mp cam that sucks (looks like you're shooting through a glass - wait, you are). Oh, great battery life if you use it as a phone.

HTH.

I bought something called a Lobster the other week from the virgin website for £39.99 on payg, its windows mobile, its got camera, qvga, dab radio, TV etc. Virgin even gave me the unlock code for free. It runs tomtom just fine as well - which is all I bought it for really.
Its £49.99 on the website, but there is a discount code floating around..

Have a look at www.modaco.com or www.coolsmartphone.com

They are websites dedicated to the Windows Mobile phones and PDA's. (which the O2 XDA things are)

The XDA mini S is a nice mobile PDA though it has been replaced by a better model now, it has a rather naff camera. The miniSD slot takes a max of 2 GB cards, and I got mine from here SVP. (http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?bid=0&cid=261)

This is a good tip. I've had smartphones now for about 5 years? Started off with the C500 when it first came out and I've never looked back.

I won't go back to those normal (Symbian?!?) phones. I'm not sure but I could be responsible for Saxo getting into them too, I got a couple guys there interested in them.

I have an Orange M700, although these are called different things depending on what network you are with they are actually made by HDC?

The guys oon the forum above will help you out no end. I've not been on there for ages

It's HTC, and not all normal phones are Symbian... they wished, though! ;)

a friend at work has that new nokia phone N93? has GPS, has a calendar that integrates into Outlook/exchange, has a 5mp camera (I think), and has the mp3 player and memory card slots.

but doesn't run Windows.

Personally after playing with that nokia, I would'nt get a pda, unless you REALLY do have windows apps you want to install on a PDA. I ended upgiving my PDA away, as I never used it, and it was too big to put in my pockets.

N95. Great phone, but way too pricey for what it offers. Oh, and it runs Symbian. ;)

I've got the XDA Orbit. It's not bad - phone, camera and satnav. Unfortunately the Windows software on it is a bit dodgy at times and it's fond of starting the satnav software when I press the phone button.

XDA Orbit here as well, good phone. Decent battery and picked up a memory card 1GB for a tenner in London. Holds a collection of music and satnav software.

There is an over due upgrade to WM6 for the phone, since german O2 recently got the upgrade, so where waiting for O2 UK to get its finger out and release the update!

Cheers

OK, I checked, the Orbit / P3300 are one and the same (HTC, codename Artemis). So there.

www.xda-developers.com (http://www.xda-developers.com) is an excellent forum for all HTC Windows Mobile-based devices, check it out before buying a handset to check if there are any known bugs / issues (which there usually are, it's Micro$oft after all...) with the handset you're thinking of. You'll also find more detailed specs and info on the differences that the same handset might have on differing networks (e.g. T-Mobile have removed the Wi-fi hardware on their version of the Artemis IIRC). Plenty of downloads / tools / FAQs too.
