Thought I'd share some pics of my new bike, the SV has gone and I've now got a CBR600RR.. It's an amazing bike and every ride just gets better and better at the moment. So much to learn still but it's coming together, only passed 6 weeks ago.

It's a 53 plate, 1700 miles and standard apart from Carbon Can Co race exhaust which was on the bike when I got it and i've just fitted a Zero Gravity double bubble which was essential as the wind tried to pull my lid off at 80mph+, problem fixed now :D Getting a seat cowl next week and have got a tail tidy to go on aswell. No other mods planned apart from service and dyno check.

Hope you like,
Nick

Nice looking bike, how does it compare to the SV (a lot I'd imagine!)

Cheers, the CBR is completely diff as you can imagine. It felt like I was sitting on the tank to start with as there isn't much in front of you. It's smaller but the seat height is higher so i'm just on the balls of my feet, have to lean it to one side slightly to get my foot flat on the floor.

Performance wise it's awesome. It all happens at high revs, not too much pull from low revs like the SV and I keep thinking I need to change up as it was hard at first to keep the revs up to 14k or so not to mention the licence losing speeds you hit when revving that hard. The cornering is totally different to the SV too. It's much easier and eager to lean and the turn-in into bends is lighter and easier. It feels safer for some reason, probably down to the harder suspension so you don't move about so much. It feels totally planted to the road and inspires confidence.

I need to get some more miles under my belt to get used to it more but so far it's a total adrenalin rush everytime it gets over 8/10k rpm.

My Daytona all but takes off when you get to 10K, and it's terrific fun, but that doesn't mean to say that you have to ride in the power band all the time;)

Have been lurking on the cbr forum but it's pretty quiet over there...

There are quite a few ex-SV owners here, one more won't hurt will it! :-)

1700 miles on a 53 bike? I did that in 4 weeks on my hire bire. How can people have such a nice bike, change it up how they like it with can etc & not bloody use it?
Good result for you though (if genuine mileage)

StreetHawk

Yep, it's genuine 1700 miles, 1 owner from new, not a mark on it and still looks new... He has a track bike and that got a lot more use than the road bike. He did less than 50 miles on it in the last 6 months!

Think i'll stick around despite what Steve H thinks !! :smt019

I paid £4300 for it which isn't the cheapest but it's a good one. I'm in Maidenhead in Berkshire, where are you doing the trackdays? I'd love to get it on a track..

I've been waiting for you to post up some pics, and they didn't disapoint. I'm not jealous nooooo,[-(.. Ok maybe a little, enjoy it and don't listen to those forum folk telling you to go to the CBR forum, theres more ss600's on here now than SV's so you got plenty of backing!!!

Nice bike Nick..i've always been an admirer of the CBR and it always scores well in the ss600 tests, so let us now how you get on with it. Honda build quality is always a massive plus IMO.

My only reservation about the CBR was that it looked a little small(maybe thats just me..)

Anyhow by the time i am fit to ride and have got myself a nice ss600 as well, we will have to do that cruise/hoon down to the coast and maybe even a trackday.

As it stands i keep flirting between a few bikes but the 05 blue/white R6 keeps attracting my attention again and again. For some reason though its an insurance group higher than the gixxer/zx6r/cbr600...go figure, i expect the insurance monkeys are out to spite me!

Lovely bike. I think a CBR600 is gonna be my next bike. I've taken my Brother's CBR400 out a couple of times now and just can't help grinning like a loon on it. First ride down the A3 had me giggling like a maniac! And he's getting it modded soon too- 600 rear shock, new front shocks, completely new pipework and a dynojet kit. His mechanic is a race engineer and builds the exhausts himself- now that IS a custom job. (any of the GM lot- if you see a CBR400 with a FANTASTIC flame paint job shoot past you (rider with Marlboro leather jacket)- it's me Bro. Sweet!

So I can't imagine what a 600 will be like. :D

How 'bout some more pics? What's the top speed you've done on it so far?

Mark - It's a smaller bike than the SV but the seat is quite high still.. You may be ok, have you tried one? Those R6's are nice too, I was gonna get one of them at one point. The insurance on that was actually cheaper than the CBR.. We will defo get that run to the coast done as soon as you are mobile again, any news on that??

I've got some bits to add this weekend, tail tidy, smaller plate, seat cowl and clear indicators so i'll add a couple of pics after that.. Top speed so far (on a private testing track ;-) ) was 123mph , than I ran out of bottle ( and road!) :-)

How did the insurance compare getting on a double R after only having your lisence 6 weeks, my m8 let me have a go on his R1 only a quick blast but boy what a blast totally different animal,
see im thinking of a RR, but still keeping the SV for that tour of riding without backache after 350 miles solid:smt040, which i know a superbike can cause and im not really looking for a thou race bike, the RR seems the other choice over a R6

I have my op early next week and it is keyhole surgery so i would hope i will recover quickly. I reckon that i could potentially ride after 4-8 weeks, but it may be a case of the surgeon warning me off. TBH its all guess work and i'll only know after its been done. As long as its not going to damage it, im more than happy to hop back on a bike ASAP:smt072 ...ill let you know :smt040

Looking good :D I can't believe it's over 3 years old and has only 1700 miles though! Is the run in period for the RR's 1000 miles? I'd expect the first owner to have been keen to get to the 1000 mile mark asap, but then to do only 700 miles in the remaining time...wow.

My GSX-R's got 1500 miles now, I've only had it 6 weeks ish, got to 1000 after 3 weeks!

I can't get my head round it either, the explanation was that he had a track bike and used that more than the road bike... It all checks out as genuine mileage. The MoT was in Oct 06 and it had done 1700 miles then, when I got it two weeks ago it was showing about 1750!

Added some better pics to the first post now, got my new bits on :-)

Nothing else to add except I may fit a road legal carbon pipe..

Maybe he took the clocks off and run it on the track ?? I hope not, but it's plausable

LOL nasty:smt068 . I've done a few preliminary quotes on all the ss600's and it seems ball park £700. Found one of jut over £500 for the R6 which i liked(extras like breakdown/foreign cover inc). Had my license for a while longer than you and few years no claims....i am younger though:cool:
