View Full Version : Recommend me a......new mobile!
In light of the recent couple of "Recommend me a...." threads, my mobile contract is up for renewal... Currently have a K750i on a £25p/m contract with o2. Will stay with o2 as it suits me, dont really want to increase the monthly payment and am totally fed up with the K750i - had it two years now and the joystick has just gone for the third time...
I would like a phone with a minimum 2 megapixel camera, other than that I have no real criteria - so what can you recommend me? I am tempted by a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone as its similar to the K750 but without the annoying joystick....
Help!
Ive got the sony ericsson 850i walkman phone. its pretty good, its got a two megapixel camera, but best of all its a music player. I currently have approx 150 tracks at the highest quality on a 1 gig memory card and you can pick up 4 gig cards for next to nothing.
Ive got the sony ericsson 850i walkman phone.
Thats the super slim one? Quite liked it but wasnt too sure on the funny buttons! Dont really have that much need for a music player phone, but I guess its a nice to have feature.... be handy for the AR07 I guess!

The super slim phone is W880i, it is bit naff for me cos i would snap it in half straight away. The buttons look bit weird but okay once you have a go. I have the W850i its nice, easy to use. The new Nokias are looking a bit okay too!
I have the 800i, and its been a good phone. Better than the 750i i had previously. The 810i apprently ahs slightly better software, but a horrible keypad. The only downside if you intend to youe if for music is that it only takes Sony MSM2 cards and afaik they only go up to 1gb.
Im considering the N95 from Nokia, or maybe the LG Prada.
Hmm, tempted by the 800i as Mrs Skip has it, but I think its a little on the large side and I will never use the 3G stuff...

I got a free upgrade to a Nokia 6300. I fricken love it, simple easy to use, but has plenty of features to. Doesnt look flash, but it isnt big and bulky like the N series nokia's are so it fits in my jacket nice and easily when I'm out on the bike.
Battery life seems good and it hasnt got any niggles in the software like my old N80 did. i.e it doesnt lock up and stop responding all the time.

I got a w810i because i wanted a sony walkman without a joystick and it is great. No complaints but after using a thinner phone it feels fat.
I think there is a w610 or similar which is out now that is very similar spec but a bit thinner.

*.......Taxi!"
Anything BUT a Nokia. Pile of ****e they are.
Based on the input so far (its appreciated!) its a toss up between the new K810i and I quite like the sound of Fizz's 6300 - a phone thats not trying to be anything its not!
Hmm... decisions, decisions!

I'm terrible with phones, I lose them, break them or get bored with them very quickly. However, I've had my 810i for what seems like forever (it's now out of contract), and I haven't seen another unit that I want to replace it with.
I had a K700 and 750, both of which were good but this has been the best phone I've ever had, and I can't see me going back to Nokia. For work I have an XDA Orbit which is great as it's a slimline PDA with email/browsing and a built in GPS (handy when walking around in towns you don't know).
So, I'd go with the 810, unless you fancy a PDA type phone, then have a look at the Orbit.
Hmm, tempted by the 800i as Mrs Skip has it, but I think its a little on the large side and I will never use the 3G stuff...I turned the 3G stuff off. It saves a whole lot of battery. The girlfriend has a Nokia 6300 which is a very very good phone.
Steve, how could you have had a 810i? Its only been out about a month ;)

i would take the w810i, its pretty much the same as the k750i, but with more memory, an advanced mp3 player, better headphones, and no joystick :)
to be honest, id call o2, and say you have found a better contract, and want to cancel,
they then reduced my line rental to 10 p/m and gave me a new phone to keep me, (the current w810i)
authough it didnt work for my g/f a few weeks ago.
