Just put a HID H4 on my TT6.

Only the 6000k version, did not want it to be too blue, does not seem to have too much glare out of the main beam area. Im trialing it for a while, it was cheep because its the old style of fitting where there is a HID for low-beam and a halogen for high beam, bit slow on lighting up though, just easier to have it on low-beam all the time. Lucky i only need the one.

Very tight fit as there is nowhere to bolt the balast to on the front of the TT, but after a little looking i found a small space just between the clocks and screen, its also safe from little fingers.

That seems... bright.

If I ever get a single headlight bike I will try & get that. Saw it on someone's bike & was very effective.

Just remember that according to one of the many acts/laws, its illegal to fit a HID system to a unit that has not been designed for it. But hey, whens that stopped us? ;)

I'd like HID on my Sv, and almost got that system earlier in the year. Would need to be Bi-Xenon on the SV though :(

That should still be quite blue, no? Tungsten filaments are 3200k, daylight is only 5600k, so 6000 should be significantly bluer than standard.

Saw a GSX-R1000 with an aftermarket HID system at the weekend. Even in daytime it was far too bright. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was exactly the same as looking at an unfiltered welding light. Other people I was with commented the same, one said he could only see people's silhouttes for a few seconds after looking at it, as the centre of his vision was filled with the after image of the light.

So, on the one hand, potentially dangerous retinal damage to any poor sod who looks at it, on the other, SMIDSY will be increasingly hard to believe. :D

Yeh, blueish, but not the 8000k or 10000k that some peeps put on their cars.

I wanted the 4300k one but this came up first.

You going to be at the AR? I want to see how this works, I keep on nearly doing it myself and then putting off in case of bad glare...

course, prolly not best example of HID, i may have a different one by then anyway.

Would we not need two on the SV though?

Almost 4 actually, left & right, High & low beam (which HID conversions don't do well). Hence me saying earlier it would be good for a bike with a single dedicated low beam like a zx 636 for example, and I imagine TSM's TT

It's the glare patterns I want to see, that's down to reflector more than capsule so it should be a good indicator. Good stuff...

The new HID bulbs do HI/LOW well and quickly, they have a shield that is moved magnetically when you flash or switch between HI/LOW, that way the bulb never actually needs to turn off or on which is a problem for HID.

I only have one bulb that does HI/LOW and a side light in the headlight. The zx636 and many modern bikes have the weird light config due to some euro rules and bulb fittments etc.. bla bla, not exactly sure on that one.

Yep two, you will also need to fit two balasts too which are boxes about 9x9x3cm.

Thats the control power converter thing is it not?

Ive got a diffrent pair now, these ones are the always on HID that moves the bulb into diffrent positions to give high and low beam. Works fairly well too. Loom is a little mess as its ment to be for dual headlights which my TT does not have.

Ive gone for the 4600K bulb so its not blue anymore which is nicer. Ive not tested the latest kit on the road. I do feal guilty for spending soo much money though.
