Hiya,

Just thought I'd introduce myself - cracking website and forum for SV's here!

I'm just in the middle of my DAS this week, with my test on Friday. I was riding along with my instructor yesterday, and I saw her....a silver 2004 SV650S - had a good look, saw the owner (one owner), 17k miles, only a small scratch on the fairing, and put an offer in (eek!!)

Phoned him back last night and we have a deal!!!

I'll be on here a lot once I pick her up this weekend!!

Nice to meet you all..

Thanks Guys - nice to have a warm welcome!!!

Mind you Hovis...curvy?!?!?...yellow??!!?? Each to their own!!

Only kidding - to be honest I like both shapes equally (sitting on fence!!) - this one just came up at a price I couldnt refuse!!

Just a couple of questions if you dont mind:

The SV is 2004, silver, small scratch on the edge of the fairing, but nowhere else - 17,000 miles, one owner from new - he has done all the servicing (RAF engineer) and has the receipts to prove, totally standard bike. Its in good condition, not perfect (couple of scuffs on the heel plates as you would expect) Including paddock stand, dianese back protector, service manual and a load of tools he bought specifically to service the bike. - Just wondering what you reckon the little SV is worth - I think I got a good deal as he goes to Hong Kong in a few weeks and needs to get rid!!

The second question is: on the side on the engine (I think RHS), there are 2 small diameter rubber pipes pasing over the crankcase and pointing downwards - any idea what these are? Are they crankcase breather pipes?

Ta Muchly, and look forward to seeing some of you around!

#1. Wild stab in the dark, I'd put my finger on £2500 without seeing the bike. 17k miles, all self serviced by a forces engineer, you know that bike has never missed a beat. Getting the tools etc is good, but I wouldn't really pay more money for them with the bike. Of course, that's just me.

#2. One of those pipes is the fuel overflow. I can't remember what the other is. Your crankcase breather (if it's the same on the K4 as it is on my K6) comes up inside the airbox.

Good luck with the DAS, and don't be tempted to do your test on your SV. They have a slightly wider turning circle than ER5's (which almost everyone uses for DAS), and can be off putting on u-turns etc. Also, if you drop the bike on your DAS/test, you don't break your bike. \\:D/

Let us all know how you get on.

Thanks baph, really appreciate your help - no, he was throwing everything else in anyway. Hopefully I have got a bargain, we agreed on £1850...I have been looking for ages, so I think I know just about what the prices are, but at the end of the day I'm a complete novice buying bikes, and I just want to make sure my money is well spent...I always get that "bu**er - should I have done that?" feeling when I buy anything over ohhh...about £10..lol

No, wont be doing the test on the SV, the school uses CCM R30's - strange choice but I must say that I find them a lot easier to ride than the 125 on the CBT.

I'll keep you posted - got lessons this afternoon, then tomorrow morning, then test on Fri at 1pm!! eeek!!

Welcome Billy, sounds as if you've got a really good deal there. Check out the South West Surfers Section for local rides, we have one in September that you may be interested in, you'll be made welcome.

PS check that the gear selector is fixed properly, some K4's have had problems with it.

Cheers Mogs, will do - would be good to hook up with a few people from down here...I'll look at it. I think the bike is a K3...? Its an '04 plate, registered in May 2004...does that stack up?
