View Full Version : New chap and his new love
Ow do n Welcome, nice looking steed you have there boy!
As for the exhaust i'd vote CCC as i used to have one on mine, fruity as you like, especially with the baffle removed. ;)
For the wrist issues give fizzwheel a PM he done something to the brake/clutch levers to compensate, i would do a search but its far too early and im in need of coffee :smt068
Hi All,
I thought I'd say hi and share a picture of my new love.
Went out last night with a few mates which included an R6, MT-03 and Yamaha Dragstar 1100cc. The last of which got the most looks, largely down to the noise and backfiring - superb! 8)
I've not long entered into the world of biking and only passed my DAS last month. I'm taking it easy and learning how to go round corners which as you can imagine was a great source of fun for the R6 rider!!
Love the bike though and already feel very comfortable with it. The V-twin sound is cool specially when slowing down. But want to put a new can on without putting people off if i sell it. Nothing too mad just something to get the best out of the potential sound. I've heard that some can affect the fuel flow and require engine adjustments which sounds all very scary - any advice would be appreciated.
Sorry about the outfit and i'm sure once i get a tinted visor i'll look a lot better :)

Looks sharp. Hope you are coming to terms with the wristy issues.
Don't think an aftermarket can will require too much adjustments. The Suzuki people are always helpful if you talk to the garage doing your servicing.
Passed MOT with my can this year "If it had been last year we'd have failed you" something about "NOT FOR ROAD USE" being stamped on some cans now, rather than a noise measiurement?
Yeah thanks - first service is due in a few weeks so will ask the dealer and see what they suggest.
When you say "wristy" issues are you referring to the pain I felt in my wrist after a long ride (in which case spooky is that common problem?) or is that a euphemism for having a bike as a new love (in which case spooky is that common problem too?) :D

Looks great!
Sorry can't really help with regards to the can (i'm in the same boat myself) but if you have a search, or look in the exhausts section it has been covered lots!
I don't think a new can would put any future buyers off. When I got mine it had a slip on fitted with the original can in a box, it's still in its box :smt077
all cans will sound better, it depends on budget?

Yeah that's the sort of thing i want to do - i guess my buyer will do the same and keep the original can in the box too :)
Have looked at the Exhaust section and now more confused than ever:-
CCC
Fuel
M4 etc.
Heard the UTube videos and the M4 sounds great! Real low thump which i'm keen to have.
Budget could stretch to £200 but was hoping for help with fitting. Is that realistic? Does a slip on can still require cutting the original pipe?
Thanks again for your advice

Yep to cutting, but it's not as scary as you think and it certainly isn't a technical job.
Fuel, CCC and Scorpion all do cans that start well within that budget. Personal choice really, spend some time on their sites (email CCC as their site appears down at mo).

Nice bike mate..
Whereabouts are you? I'm sure if there is someone close then they may give you a hand with the exhaust fitting. I did mine myself and it was dead easy, sawing is the worst bit but once thats done it a 10 min job. Enjoy the bike!

It's the pain in the wrist after a long ride I think! You need to grip the tank with your legs, this will take your weight off the bars. You only need a light grip on the handlebars, and your arms should be pretty loose - if you can do the funky chicken with your arms (flap 'em about) you're doing OK!
Nice bike by the way, & great choice of helmet

Bought the exact same colour 6 months ago. Nice leathers, are those Frank Thomas, as i'm looking at leathers at the moment. What do you think of them

I do like that colour for the K6s. Have you thought about getting some crash bungs on there, might be a good investment! :D

They are yes - titanium pro see http://www.frank-thomas.co.uk/index.php?pge_id=11&product_id=111 they fit real well actually but the only issue is the external armour bits on the shoulders which catch my ruck sack straps and make it hard to get on and off without looking a wally. They come up a little large on the jean size i had to go for 32" waist (which made me feel great as i haven't been that size for 15 years), but the 34's where too large and baggy and of course it will stretch. To be fair i didn't really try many other leathers except an Arlen Ness which was very, very nice but another £100 on the FT.

Cheers! I love it, fits well and would recommend it. Thanks for advice on grip. I think my first few trips i was clutching at the bars for life, but as i've leaned to trust my abilities and the bike, i've started to relax.... well almost :)
Cheers Muffles - Will invest in crash bungs, i assume that's a quick fix and i get the dealer to add them at the next service?

They're pretty easy to fit, if you get the R&G ones - they don't require any cutting of the lower fairings. Same with Suzuki OEM ones....but I wouldn't recommend them, if you look at the design I can't see how they are anywhere near as strong as "regular" crash bungs. How long till your next service? You can fit them yourself quite easily with a few tools (i.e. correct size socket and a breaker bar).
First 600mile service is due in less than 300 miles already and i only got the bike sunday :D But the coming rain will help to prolong that.... Thx for advice, i'll check the R&G ones and have a closer look at the effort involved.

Well said and absolutely right - but on a really long ride I pins and needles in my unmentionables! (Like yesterday, Zurich to Munich) :)
125 mph down the autobahn tho΄
Sorry but couldn't help show off better pics of my baby :D

Mind you with all this damn rain i reckon i'll keep the miles down :(
Just realised you're in NZ, let me reasure you, blighty is having a traditional summer at the moment (like the good ol days)....
