I'm doing an assessed ride with a local pig as part of my bikesafe course.

During the breifing the officer said that our bikes had to appear legal when he gives them a quick once over, but that he wouldn't be giving them a thorough examination.

The problem is I have a fuel exhause fitted, and the baffle is burried somewhere in my garage in one of the many boxes of crud. Do you guys think i need to pull my garage to bits to find the baffle, of will i be okay with out it?

i guess it depends on the individual but when eviltwin did bikesafe (in surrey) they said that they would ignore illegal exhausts (amongst other less than legal aspects of the bike and riding)

i would fit it just in case, although how loud is it?

Folks here will attest they were loud. They also ignored small plate (7x5).

IMO it will be your attitude that gets you into bother ('local pig' FFS!) rather than you bike.

I had no problems at all with my obviously illegal bike on my bikesafe day with the Met - baffle-less Renegade can, small plate, tiny inicators, black lens covers etc. In fact, they were drooling at all the trickery, and on the ride itself weren't too fussy about the speed limit either.

I imagine they'd be more worried about safety issues such as iffy tyres tho.

If you can't find your baffles at the back of your garage I wouldn't worry, But you could try looking for some better attitude back there.

:winner:

You know they give up their own free time to do those sessions don't you?
Ask yourself when was the last time you did something that community sprited.

Hmm - looks like I may have come across as ungrateful here. <hangs head in shame>

I am really indebted to both Peterborough city council for funding the event, and to Cambridgeshire Pigs for devoting their time to help me stay alive.

I'm sure they'd see the funny side of me using their friendly nick name. I'll use it at the weekend and let u all know.

Morning all.
I wouldn't say that your bike is excessively loud. 'cause it didn't rupture eardrums when being revved in my workshop last week. So I think you'll be fine.
And I prefer the term Rozzers myself:D

Cheers.

Hope you get a black pig, you could call him a Nigger pig for good measure. Yeah, sure he'll see the funny side, they love it.
Good luck

This begs the question that can an off duty officer arrest someone under the Public Order Act?

Let us know when you find out. :D

New leaf-i THOUGHT you were a nice guy, after reading the posts from you on here im kinda changing my mind!
If you dont liker the POLICE (or so it seems) then why are you doing the bike safe course with them? Your attitude stinks, Ok not ALL of us get along/like the POLICE but does that mean we go round using the term you have?
You should be ashamed.

Thats my 2p input.

Now quoting that out of context with that thumbs up is offensive. I think you'll find Stu was just making the point that 'Pig' is an offensive term as used in your original post, and you've made no attempt to take any of the points raised on board.

In less enlightened times my Grandma had a black labrador called that, she was outside shouting for him to come in at once but didn't notice the Carribbean lad washing windows down the street, oops. I think it got renamed.
