Hello one and all.

My name's Johnathan (aka, Gnome). I'm 23, reside in the pleasant surroundings of very northern Oxfordshire, and am currently without a bike.

Well, I say without one, I was building my second project, but was getting fed up of the fact that delays beyond my control, mean that I was still without a bike on the road.

So, I took the decision to sell all the parts, and my brother has offered me his X-reg SV650 at a brother's price. Extortionate!!! :smt003

So, I should hopefully soon be the owner of a Yellow SV650S.
This time, I won't be stripping it apart, as tbh, I'm new to V-twins.

Been a secret closet V-twin fan, but apart form a teeny Intruder VL125 I owned about 6 years ago, I've not had a proper V-twin, or even ridden one for that matter.

Always been a fan of the SV though.
My bro's done a few little things to it. Lower fairing, seat cowl, undertray, indicators.

I plan to pretty much keep it that way, maybe with a few shiney parts added.

Only things that need sorting are the fork seals, and the tank is leaking slightly on the underside. Need to inspect it properly, to see if a Petseal job can be done, or whether it's a welding job, or even a new tank. :smt088

Any tips and tricks on the SV front always appreciated.
What are they like to work on?
I'm used to oldskool Suzuki oil burners ya see (Bandits, GSXR's). :smt035

So, in short. Hello! :D

Finally someone from Oxfordshire! I live in Oxford itself, but I work up north of the A34 near Upper Heyford. Where exactly are you based? Good luck with getting the bike ship-shape (bike-shape?), and gimme a call or PM if you want to go out riding or need any help. May I recommend a new can if you don't already have one!

No, not far at all.

One of my fave 20min blasts was to go up to Stratford, across thru Leamington/ Warwick, on to Southam, and down the Southam rd to Banbury.

Will have to try and get some piccies up at some point.

Bike currently resides in our garage with the rest of my brother's stuff (as he's moving oop norf), and has dramatically reduced my bike workshop space from a 1 and a half size garage, to a 4 foot by 6 foot square!

Bike is asleep under a few covers though.:smt003

This was my last (running) bike:

Very nice custom, front mudguard looks as good as the SV's  , on that note make sure it's got a fender extender. You'll be playing with the SV, even though you say you won't bet ya you will ;).. Hellope by the way!!!

Hi Gnome:D

Pete and I are in Rugby, so not that far from you either..............and we have a couple of friends with bikes who live in Brackley.

I don't know if you're aware, but there's a new Bike meet at Long Itchington Diner (just outside Southam) on Thursday evenings. It isn't hugely attended as yet, but the food is good, and the roads to get to it are great:D

We will be there next Thursday.

Gnome - Welcome.

' Mind posting some road names up of that route you mentioned. I've done \ do Stratford - Leamington\Warrick - Southam quite a bit - would love to know if I've missed something :-) I think I know the road you take to Banbury too, only recently discovered that. I can't link them together because I'm coming at that lot from the other way.

I might be able to forgive you, since your brother has some taste, due to the fact it's got a Scorpion.

Welcome.

Welcome to the party :D

I know a lot of those roads having spent a lot of my life living in the West Midlands. As well as the roads you mention, we used to ride up to Matlock quite a lot but that was some year ago so I've no idea of the current speed limits or road surfaces.

Down to 40mph I believe the north side of Stratford as you head out to Matlock. Road surface is good, but police prescence in summer is off-putting to say the least...

Haven't been up there in nearly a year now though.

Car park was re-surfaced to smooth tarmac thankfully at the Waterman though!

YELLOW!?!

Lol - I like yellow!
If i'd bought it from new, I'd probably have gone for black or blue, but the yellow's still cool for me.

Route is pretty much A422 (Banbury to Stratford)
A439 from Stratford, to the A46. Quite blast up to the M40 roundabout, and down in to Warwick, and through to Leamington.
Then get on to the A425 to Southam - nice piece of road on the bike, and can be in the car as long as you don't meet slow moving traffic, as it's a nightmare to overtake on anything over than a motorbike!
Then back down from Southam along the A422 again.

Seen the new diner over the last month or so, but didn't know a meet was going on there. Will have to check it out.

Aha! There's a rideout in the Matlock area planned for tomorrow. See here (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=91044). Get yourself along (Bassetts Pole 10AM) if you're free.

Just so I can laugh at the colour, obviously. :dwarf: (Man, we even have a Gnome smiliey! How good is that!)

Lol - quality smilie.

Don't have the bike yet dude (Well, it's in our garage, but I haven't officially bought it off my bro yet, plus it'll need the tank and forks seals sorting).

Gotta strip down my Slingshot project as well, as I'm breaking it in order to buy the SV.

Plus I think it might rain. :smurfin:

Plsu I'd never ride my special bikes in the rain. Have to keep my babies dry (the bikes, not the moobs). :D

Yeah, or perhaps that diner that Lissa mentioned?
Beats having to park in that ridiculous excuse of a bike park they constructed!

The car park is going at Stratford, so it's back to parking on the pavement at the Waterside :smt041

Hopefully see you out soon.

Really? If so, that's awesome news. Was much better parking out on the road next to the park.
