Speed cameras are being installed today

The widening of Leckwith Road and interchange begins on June 18th. Speed cameras will be installed for 18 months to enforce 50mph on the A4232 within 1km of the interchange, and 30mph on the slip roads and gyratory

I am not sure when they will become operational. Drive carefully. Pass the info on to anyone who drives along the A4232.

They did the exact same thing further down at the Ferry Road/Penarth intersection as a temporary measure.

It's there to protect the workmen and fair enough in my view. The slip-road off the A4232 onto Leckwith Road is a dangerous place to be. There's a dedicated left turn fromm the slip-road onto Leckwith Road but far too many road users (drivers and bikers alike) don't see the "Give Way" lines across the lane pile on through when vehicles exiting the roundabout.

A biker was taken out there yesterday by a WVM. The biker was catpulted off the bike, slid down the road and hit a lamp post. No reports as to his condition yet. WVM stopped to see the carnage and then drove off. Good news is that the tosser was caught on CCTV and a workman on the new footy stadium site got the name of the contruction company which was plastered all over the van ;)

There will also be mobile cameras on Leckwith Road. Nothing new in that - one of the feckin' things cost me £60/3pts last November

On the topic of local deaths, that chap who was 71 who had a heart attack from the excitement of riding was on the 5 mile lane of all places!

I don't bother with that road any more since they made it 40mph for much of it. Too slow for my tastes.
