Looks like I'll be getting a notice soon according to this: -

http://yahoo.reuters.com/news/articlehybrid.aspx?storyID=urn:newsml:reuters.com: 20070615:MTFH04190_2007-06-15_15-04-25_L15799590&type=comktNews&rpc=44

EDIT

More info here http://www.moderntiredealer.com/t_inside.cfm?action=news_det&storyID=7543 and probably doesn't affect UK tyres.

My front falls within the 980 batch No. New front for me then. There is a line which runs round the tread pattern but it’s on the back as well? Don’t know if that’s anything to do with it. Will post piccy later when batteries charged (again).

That constant line round the tyre I believe is an anti-static line and has nothing to do with the delamination fault. I've been out today and can see no problems with my tyre,no pressure loss or uneven wear so I will have it changed when I come back from Scotland. According to information one person has had delamination after riding at 140mph so unless you normally ride at that sort of speed or sustained high speeds it might not be a priority to have it changed till you have had some mileage out of it.
By all means have it changed if you are worried but I will wait for notification from my tyre shop

Dicky

I'm not a high speed merchant. I'll keep and eye on it until TST contact me for a change. They will probably be struggling for stock for a while.

Also, the dates of the affected batches are between 4505 and 1807 so you need to check that as well.

my tyres are affected, but i reckon i'm just going to keep going with them til they're more or less due to be replaced anyway - woo hoo a freebie new set!! :D

My theory is that if they were going to do something funny they would have done so by now, especially after a trackday at Silverstone + 1-2K miles on the road...

um, this is what happens to the tyre.....

http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/7548/tyreys4.jpg

The tyre delaminated when going in a straight line, the brake lines were ripped out of the calipers and the front mud guard was also smashed. This was a tyre that had just under 2,000 miles on it.

If it were me I certainly wouldn't be happy with these tyres on my bike.

Kate

Can't see the picture tonight at work but I'll have a look at home tomorrow afternoon. Believe it was a track day at very high speed? I'll give the shop a ring Thur pm.

Thanks Ratty
