Theres a few budding photographers around, and the quality of the pictures has been fantastic. So i suggest a competition! Here are a few rules

1. Photos to be submitted on this thread
2. Photos must be submitted before the end of June
3. Poll will go up at the end of June for the winner
4. If response is good then winner can propose a topic for the next comp.
5. One photo per person (and please keep the resolution reasonable)
6. Photoshop yay
7. Other peoples photos nay!
8. Do not need to be bike related at all.

I'll keep the topic broad for the first one.....

Summer!

Mods- tell me to pi** off if need be :smt014
;)

It's a black and white photo of my dads bike and my bike at Chatsworth House. I think it looks almost like we have gone back in time!!! (p.s it was taken in summer) ;)

HDR works on anything, but you get most out of it when you need information in very bright areas and very dark areas within the same image.

Vancouver Island is great, very quiet place but you can take boat/plane trips and all. Well worth a visit imo!

Corn Queene

http://wyrdness.org/images/cornqueene.jpg

This was taken outside the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre on Bankside, London. The Corn Queene was made from summer crops and produce. After a procession to Borough Market, fayre and Shakespearean performance, the Corne Queene was dismantled and distributed amongst the audience. We got some sweetcorn and onions that we had for dinner.

I used a Nikon D50, with 18-55mm lens and polarising filter.

How did you manage to get a shot of the sun like that?
I was trying to do the same with my Fuji Finepix F31FD the other day but just couldn't get anything decent. It was either all white or too dark to make anything out.

I use a Pentax DSLR which offers a lot of control and i also use RAW mode and not jpeg which allows me to adjust exposure, sharpness, colour etc before i convert to jpeg. Bit like have a darkroom. I also use Adobe Lightroom which gives a bit of control over highlights which helps bring the clouds out :)

Lucky ? You should have done the lottery that week mate ! :D

I've never seen an image with such a differences required in the exposure done in just 1 shot. The theory is that you expose one shot for the sky (so you'd stop it down a bit) and then take another for the rest of the detail. Then combine the two with something like photoshop. That way you don't burn out the clouds etc and the whole thing looks, well, as good as yours...

Top marks fella...
