"THE BIKE IS IN THE BACK OF A VAN - YOU WONT STOP THE BIKE, ITS A VAN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!"
"Yes well is they find it they will take it to the pound for you"
"THEY WONT FIND IT UNLESS THEY CATCH THEM IN THE ACT!"

i know my post makes it sound like it, but i was actually strangley calm. When i went back tio bed i woke the Mrs so i told her and she immediately burst into floods of tears, saying she felt violated and theyve probably been watching us etc....awful...

i would have got the mrs to ring the police and other people while you chase after the dirty scumbags with a big stick!! in future, if police are going to act like that then you might as well do something about it yourself.
this is why there are more people theiving, because they know they can easily get away with it!

I know exactly how you feel, I've been in the same position. Lets hope the thieving pond scum get caught and you your bike back.

I would be down there slashing their tyres and threatening them with the same!

You could've hung up, then called the police again telling them not to bother coming as you have a gun and are going out to deal with it- that should have been enough for them to turn up within a few minutes....

I had a friend who had his car stolen, then advertised on autotrader. He turned up to 'View' his car,Rang the police told them where he was, they wernt interested. Told them he was about to set about the theives with a baseball bat, They turned up in about 10 minutes.
Real sorry to hear about it, Hopefully you'll get it back.
Know what it feels like, Had my first bike nicked, And recently had £2500 of drumkit nicked from the back of my dads car.
Neither of which even got me a phonecall back from the police.

Also, Ring up your local newspaper and ask them to run your story. I did it with my drums getting nicked and some kind soul donated half a kit to me. Might not get that level of response but at least it gets word around, Aswell as putting a bit of pressure on the theiving gits.

Sorry for what's happened mate. My CBR was nicked a couple of months ago aswell so I sympathise. I gotta say I would've gone out with something sharp and given them a go, but thats just me.
Can't you put in a complaint about it, I'd be livid! :smt011
Either that or put in a call to the local paper??? There's gotta be something we can do to highlight the total lack of care when this type of thing happens. :smt076
Sorry, rant over. Just gets me annoyed when I read this type of thing.

That's just **** !!

Not only have you lost your bike but all faith in the local plod. And then they ask "why do people have an attitude with the Police...."

Like others had said, I would have told them that if they're not coming I'm going to sort it myself with a lump of wood. Simple

(Somebody parked on my drive once and the old bill said they couldn't do anything about it. I said "You would if it was on fire". They're response was something like "You're not allowed to do that sir" to which I said "Is that so?" and put the phone down.

They were there in minutes. Gave me a talking to and then had the car towed away. The owner came out when it was being loaded onto the trailer, should have seen his face....)

S**t Pete, sorry to hear that. I'm plod and it embarasses me the way we provide a 'service' sometimes, or is that most times

I caught two scrotes screwing my car once, chased em but they got into their car and away. I 'followed' and phoned the local plod to let 'em know what was happening and I would probably need back-up
I got put through to an automated crime reporting line...twice :(

Was only cos I knew who was on nights I phoned the patrols direct and got the little sh*ts scuffed

Last I heard our control room was getting staff from a personnel supply company

words fail me...

Hope it turns out ok for you

Sorry to hear about your bike being nicked.
I've heard from a few people who've had their bike nicked and then a few weeks later they get a call saying that their bike is in the pound come and get it. For some reason there seems to be a lag time between recovery and notification, because they're all getting hit for storage charges. A couple of weeks sometimes.
If you're fully insured it's no big deal but it it was your 3rd party only winter hack you could be a couple of hundred quid out of pocket.

As everyone else has said, that really sucks big time! As dave just said, it would of been a dash out the front door in boxers with a baseball bat for me.

thanks for all your words of comfort - it helps !;)

Youve all slightly misunderstood - i was woken up by a van door slamming, by the time i got out of bed and looked out the window, they'd gone. Beleive me, I have got a baseball called Thumper for just this kind of thing, if i heard them and looked nad they were in the act, I would go, altho grabbing my minidv and filming the feckers would prob be more sensible...

Theres obviously a crew going round stealing CBR600RRs to order. Thing is, are the police doing anything about it ? I know its hard to do, but some screaming sirens and fast response would make you feel they gave a ****, not lots of form filling when theyve just left...my point being they were still in the area when i rang....

Sometimes i almost find myself admiring the cold blooded front of these people. But then i just think the slimy, low life, scum sucking sewer dwellers deserve nothing but a good kicking or pounding with a "Thumper" in the nuts, again & again, cos its so easy...once you are through the security devices -would an alarm have stopped em ? prob not- its wip ii into the back of the van, and go...in the 5 -10 secs that takes two men to do, youve no chance to react....

Question now is, how to stop it happening again? I wont go for another shiny sportsbike - it was killing my back, hips and legs on a long run to be honest - but i want something nice that has good performance, comfort and some protection...only bike is the fazer that fits (SV650s dont fit the first criteria IMHO :D ), loved my Hornet so might do that again, or the Z750 tempts - do they have any fairing ? any other suggestions - no V-twin tractors ta !:o

As far as bike suggestions go, personally from your list it would be the fazer for practicalities sake and the hornet for all round fun.

As for security i am not sure what you had but ground anchor with decent lock/chain and disc lock, alarm/immobiliser although best of all keep it in a garage...not always possible in London i know. That said if the *******s really want it then they will probably get it. IMO best to keep below the radar and keep shiny things locked up out of sight of the magpies.

Really sorry to hear about your bike. It was about this time last year that my SV went missing from outside my flat. :(

That's absolutely awful. What a really sh!ty "Oh well- let the insurance deal with it" attitude. The police should be just as accountable about such inaction as the thieving cnuts that took it. A baseball bat's too good for them..

you would think the piggy's would pick up that cbr's are going missing and do something about it

pete m
22-06-07, 08:49 PM
agreed bro - but what ? They cant s it on top of every cbr in London v easily, but they might circulate the news that 2 (prob more) went missing in N London on Wed night, and the crew might return next night in another area, have some extra patrols and make sure if any light sleepers like me ring when its just happened, they respond with all sirens blazing in the general direction and pull every van with no windows in a 5 mile radius...that way they might hear sirens or have a close call and be frightened enough to think twice about going out next time. IF they were to make the call i had and report a theft, they would be sitting around laughing and the astonishing lack of interest on the behalf of the police...theres nothing to fear except a freak pull, drive sensibly, make sure your light work, you could have your feet up and talk about big brother in between your liofting your targets, literally

I doubt that the stolen bikes will get pulled over...thats only really likely if kids stole them. If an organised gang did it then they are destined to be broken for parts....sad but true :(

The saddest part for me is that other bikers, most likely racers, will be buying these stolen parts in full knowledge of where they came from. Why else would they be so cheap?

As everyone else has said, that really sucks big time! As dave just said, it would of been a dash out the front door in boxers with a baseball bat for me.

Just be carefull with this one.

Last year I was drunk in my flat at about 5-6 in the morning when I heard a van door slam, then 30 secs later I heard what sounded like interior trim form a car being stripped out or torn. I look out the window but it was coming from up the road and a rather large tree was obscuring my view so I don me dressing gown (though not done up[had me boxers on so don't worry!]) and grab the baseball bat.

I storm out the front door and start walking up the road looking at the cars, I see nothing, then I hear the sound again coming from about 5 metres away, I spin around to see a seagull tearing some bins to shreds and leaving a mess everywhere.

I felt like a complete pillock and hope that nobody else was up at that god awfull time in the morning to witness it!!!!
