View Full Version : Insurance Write off.
Hi
Bought a new SV650 03/05/07, had a bump on 06/06/07. Bike is a write off,
other insurance have said they will not dispute any claim. My insurance is only willing to pay out £3500 and the bike cost me £4299 + the alarm. Can i push for a replacement or can i phone someone for advise.
Cheers

I was under the impression that if a new vehicle is written off within the first year then it was an automatic replacement - or have things changed so much! The only advice I can give it to contact the following link (specialist in motorcycle claims etc)

Worth a try - Personally I would be pushing for a replacment less the alarm, which should be able to be salvaged and refitted. The insurance industry seem to be adding year on year new tactics, rules and regulations to avoid paying out. Good Luck and hope you get what you think you deserve.

refuse the offer and send in quotes of new bikes to your insurance company, even tho the bike was second hand its still work about 4k.
good luck.

As others have said get a decent lawyer etc and you hould be able to get a bit more. If you are lucky you will get the full amount for a like for like replacement of the bike...but from what i have seen it will probaby end up ebing £200 odd lower. Still thats better than £3500.
Because of the whole mediating your costs thing you need to find the cheapest SV new...which i would expect you could get for circa £4k.
Insurance companies are a pain in the ass to deal with even if the other party has accepted 100% liability...im going through the same myself!
its all because of 2 very crap words "market value", its what the insurance company think its worth at the time, imo keep refusing there offers until they come up with a decent one they cant make you accept, worked for a friend of mine .
agree with kwak zzr send them some adverts for bikes like yours for sale, that way they have to up the offer.

stick with Suzuki's RRP it will be higher and in your favor.
Yeh, i know that. But as soon as it's a sorted the hire bike goes. neither my GS or my chop are fit to run and i work 2 hrs away from home. as soon as quack signs me off i'm back to 7x12.
