Well......me and the missus have talked about moving away before but I think this time we're pretty serious. House prices in the South are getting ridiculous and while we could afford something it would make life a little tough (and besides, how am I going to afford more bikes?). With that in mind we are looking to move to Lincoln. Okay so not a million miles away but far away enough for me to miss you all. Luckily the missus works in property so can pretty much move to wherever and be okay for a job, she has found something and is in the process of applying for it. As for me I am contracting at the moment so I will pretty much do any kind of office work or even Tesco's if needs be. Anyone moved away before as a couple, anything I need to think about apart from the obvious?
Why Lincoln?
Just cheap housing or do you have any other links there?

Well, yeah I moved from Prague to Manchester (for 6 months originally back in 1998).
Well, there are many things to consider I struggled with leaving family and friends back. So simple thing like baby sittings etc can be an issue (if you have kids).
Otherwise it's not such a problem. Just settle down, make some friends and then move again :-)

It's where Nicki went to Uni so she has lots of friends. No kids yet so that's good! I don't really know anyone up there but I've never found it difficult to meet new people.

If you already have plenty of friends there then it shouldn't be too traumatic.
I know that some of my friends who have moved away from the area where their family live find it difficult especially when considering having children, but I guess that it totally depends how close you are to your family.
I'm in the process of (trying to) moving back :D
So, you've changed your user name twice in the recent past and are now moving away. Are you trying to get rid of us?

Lincoln is meant to be a lovely city (not been myself) and you will be a stones throw from the "mini Nurburgring" itself - Cadwell Park! :D
Best of luck in whatever you decide!

20ish miles - not bad at all!

Or better still, I'm selling my house in Fleet buy that instead. It's a bargain. Just down the road from the Oatsheaf too, so it's only a brief walk from the GM meet which is handy even if you never turn up.

I've had to move through work a couple of times. It's always difficult at first, more for my wife than myself. I, being the main wage, the foocus was on my work but my wife was born & brought up in Rochester so had to leave all friends & family behind.
The time in Northampton was worse, Chesterfield (I worked in Matlock) was much better as the neighbours were superb, we still keep in touch and that was 14 years ago...
With you're outgoing nature, and the other half already with friends (and no kids) you should find the transition fairly painless. In 3 or 4 years you'll wonder why you never did it earlier.....
And at least it gives the GM somewhere to go on a ride out, other than the South Coast :D
.
Oh yeah, let us know when you move, well organise a rideout to bring Eviltwin up to break your loo! :D
All I can say is.....
Good riddance! :p

Lincoln aint bad...it's my old stomping ground. You have Cadwell park on the doorstep (its where I learnt to love motorbike racing), and Tattershall Castle, and Helmsley is fantastic on Sundays. Plus you have the Wolds nearby for some fantastic ride out routes, with quaint pubs for a hearty home cooked meal & pint of local brew. The coast isnt too far either, better go to Skeggy rather than Cleethorpes though. Oh and in Caistor there is a working Sweet Factory that is usually open on Sundays.
And if you're interested the Wozwolf rally is up at the Lincolnshire showground this summer. And grass tracking with cars/bangers is big in Lincolnshire (well it was when I was a teenager).

Thanks for the support....well some of you anyway :p
Just got to wait for the missus to get a decent job up there and then we're off. Will be renting for the 1st year to see if we want to stay beyond that. Might be fed up of the Northern Monkeys by then...
Have been up there before and thought it was pretty cool, a bit different to here but heyho. Some lovely roads up that way.:smt035

Aw thanks T. I'll miss you guys too. Not sure when we're off but I'm hoping it will be before the end of the year. Either way I'm not missing your big day!!!
I will miss all you guys, I've never felt such a part of something as I have with the GM. It's been amazing and have met some fantastic (and clearly mad) people. You will all be welcome to come up and stay over when we go, we will also probably have some form of party before we go.

Nice place lincoln, I used to be based at RAF Cranwell about 15 miles down the road. Used to drink in a pub called the green dragon in the city centre, you could do a lot worse.
Good luck
