View Full Version : Another Yellow Curvy Goes Down...

SV225

... along with me :(. Don't really know what happened, finished work at 8 and decided to go for a ride since I saw some of this sunshine that I've heard stories of. Anyway, got halfway round a round-about and just lost the front. Only thing I can think of was diesel.

Damage:
Rear brake lever gone
Scuffs to fairing
Scuffs and scrapes to can
End of front brake lever snapped off
Front indicator smashed
Numberplate separated from bike
Small hole in my leathers on the knee

Pics to follow shortly, I'm now off to ebay.

Thanks, Im fine - the bike took all the damage. Luckily I was wearing proper gear but I could feel the tarmac through my leathers. I will never wear denim jeans again though, even when going into town. I was only 10 miles away from home when it happened. Will be 100% rideable when I get brake lever and indi lense sorted (bulb still flashes though), mostly cosmetic really.

Mine were in the same place as yours, a list :). I've been thinking more and more about them recently and I think It'll have some on very soon.

Hopefully some new brackets and a can protector should hide most of the damage there, don't think theres any leaks but haven'y properly looked.

Brake levers will be the expensive bit I think

New indicators, a bit of filler and some paint should sort the rest out [-o<

This could be the start of some serious 'ride pimping'
At least my leathers are now cool according to the fashion thread

Wasn't going very fast but my knee was trapped under the bike so I got dragged along a bit.

I know I'm supposed to be looking for front indicators but I've found this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SRAD-TL1000-SV650-1000-LED-TAIL-LIGHT-INDICATORS_W0QQitemZ150129521508QQihZ005QQcategory Z25628QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem). Does anyone have any experience with these ie are they bright enough, good fit etc.

Also, do any other rear brake pedals fit the SV? Can't find any, have a done a search and found that GSF ones fit, but I can't find any of them either :-x

i do worry about the front end of my sv but the sv1000s seems planted on pilot tyres, i do push the front hard but i usually circle islands for hazards before i give them some stick:) not much you can do about diesel tho.

They indicators in the rear light thing is illegal - not far enough apart (240mm)

And if used with normal indicators then its illegal because you are not allowed more than one indicator per side of the bike at the rear or front

Sorry

Just read your thread about insurance kwak, glad they weren't involved in this - I don't think I'd be back on the bike 'til winter if so. I've had worries before from the front end before but I was well within my limits today, just bad luck I suppose.

Sorry to hear about another, but luckly it doesn't look to bad and its good news your ok.

I belive GSXR 600 SRAD will fit or the peg assembly will as Gilles rearsets have the same part number for both bikes.

Thanks but ebay doesnt have any on at the min, do you know if this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/suzuki-gsxr-1100-slingshot-rear-brake-pedal_W0QQitemZ320129583779QQihZ011QQcategoryZ1053 4QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) will fit? It looks the same to me but may be different. I like the holes drilled aswell.

Thanks for the offer hovis but its still flashing and Im sure there were some standard ones in a bag that the previous owner gave me.

Aye, GSXR SRAD is the exact same, fits right on. Or, there's usually those ones on ebay with the pop-up toe, they're good and not too pricey really.

Good News - just read a thread that mentioned Banditmania and I remembered about them. Went on their website and they do brake AND gear levers as a kit for just over £40. They're only at lincoln (about 1 hour from me) so I might have a (very steady) ride over tomorow. They look like flip up ones aswell.I did find an SV pedal and an SRAD pedal on ebay but I go to the lake district on saturday and items finish while I'm there.

EDIT: My SV is two different yellows, is there a clour chart anywhere so I know which colour to get for the fairing. I am thinking that this may be the oppurtunity to synchronise my yellow. Banditmania also do paint.

Good news then.
I've seen the anodised levers on eBay - they looked cool.

MY SV is two different yellows too - aftermarket lower fairings are a duller yellow. Oh, and my current tank is black, but that'll all get re-painted soon...

Thanks hovis, I think It's lively yellow as the fairing and tank are brighter than the tailpiece and front mudguard - which look more orange. I popped the tank up and it had a sticker saying Y9F though. I know it was once smashed up so I assume that the tank and fairings have been repainted the wrong colour.

It's a 2000. Been out to look and the tank says Y9F on it but the tank is one of the bright sections. I'll go out and try to get pictures of the colour differences.

I have a receipt from 2002, when the bike was sold on, with CATD written on it. Is it possible that it was smashed in 2002 and the 2002 paint was used to repair damage?

Plowsie - Found this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV650-REAR-BRAKE-PEDAL_W0QQitemZ290132406799QQihZ019QQcategoryZ1053 4QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but the bidding ends while I'm away. I emailed banditmaina earlier but they haven't replied yet. Might ring them just to check if they've got any early.

Ok, been shopping. Have bought banditmania crash bung things, gone for the 2002 yellow and have front lever on the way from ebay. Back lever is still proving difficult, Banditmania don't have any in yet for the SV. They have bandit ones that can be bodged onto an SV but don't fit properly on the plunger. Thanks for the offer of indicators hovis but I have an original set somewhere that I can stick on if I need to. Have got my eye on some Motrax micro flush mount items, will see if there are any in Skeg tomorow. Am also looking at Motrax bar ends. Just fillering and painting to do for now, aswell as fitting the crash bungs. Will post pictures when finished.

Just to mention Banditmania again  Very helpful and they have some really nice show bikes in store - worth the trip to look around the bikes if nothing else... ;)
