We were unlucky enough to get struck by lightening last week and lost lots of expensive electronic bits and pieces (TV, DVD, boiler, PCs, phones, many many lightbulbs etc etc etc). Luckily the insurance company are playing a blinder and just turning up with more and more sexy kit each day.

They've given us a nice new TV, but our old one was really a really nice 28" widescreen JVC which fitted the TV shaped hole in the lounge nicely. Since the strike/power surge it turns on, but you get no HT feed then it turns off so guess it's a failure on the power board. Can only see one fuse in it and that's not blown so probably some power rectifier transistor widget blown.

So if anyone knows a smart TV repair person who operates for beer money I'd really like to get it going again. Alternatively if anyone wants a large silver oranment for their front room let me know. Would be interesting to see someone take it away on the back of their bike :)

Cheers,
Mark

Don't know of anyone personally, but might be worth getting the name of the local jvc service agent, and seeing if they can do you a favour. U can prob get the phone number from JVC customer services. Hope that helps.

Oh, and gutted about the lightning strike, glad you are ok.

I cant help re the TV, but who is your insurance company? All credit to them, I'd expect them to wriggle out seeing as its an 'act of god'
