Hi all,

Bit of a random question but does anyone know or seen how to transport a pushbike on a motorbike? I am planning a trip to the Alps to go mountain biking but would soooo love to go there on my SV.

I am thinking of building something myself as I reckon it can be done. My mountain bike is a full suspension so the rear swingarm and forks could be removed to shorten the frame as well as removing the wheels and seat. The frame could fit on one side of the bike and the wheels, forks and swingarm on the other. I could either adapt a topbox/pannier frame or get something welded up. The only major downside is that if I come off my SV I will trash my mountain bike, which is worth more then my SV!

Not seen a push bike, but I have seen a full size ladder, albeit a very collapsible one. Anything is possible with thought and patience.

Thats pretty cool. I don't think it would be very good though on the World cup downhill course in Morzine!

Anyhoo, a mate pointed out an obvious solution which is get my mountain bike delievered down there via DHL or someone.

i had one that fitted to the towbar, but it was for a trials bike (80kg)

not sue how you would manage with a SV?

I'd perhaps suggest you look more at how much damage would be done to you in the event of an off, trapped on by a frame one side and prosumably wheels the other :smt103 .

Not sure I'd want to ride a bike like that any distance at all, but each to thir own.

Cheers Mark.

Trade the SV in for a Goldwing and put the pushbike on a trailer then tow it. ;)

Sorry - am I not helping either. :p

maybe some kind of trailer would be your best bet, if a goldwing can toe a trailer why not an sv?

Nice one! I thought the blokes hair was on fire :smt103 that confirms my original opinion. Stupid idea don't even think about it =; Not for the idea of having a push bike just too dodgy

Wow...thats the kind of thing I was thinking about. Fine for short trips but it does look dodgy for a long distance trip.

My main concern though is what Rictus said. I think it would just be too dangerous in the event of an off.

A trailer would be the best bet but looks expensive. Cheaper to send it on in the post.

Cheers guys
