Hello All
I'm putting together some of the kit required for doing DAS etc. I've spent 310 on an Arai helmet and so the rest of my kit needs to be budget (After all better to look after ones head!!!!)
Gloves - would these be ok:

I will need something waterproof as will be commuting all year round (visor wipe useful).
Boots -

Let me know what you thin, any help would really be appreciated.
Cheers Drew
the boots look fine to me, i have only had one pair of frank thomas gloves and the stitching came apart between the fingers!
the textile jacket i got of theirs was good though.
i got those boots, & i like them, i never got to test them in heavy rain, only light rain which they did well.
but i think they are more of a summer boot, check out the boots thread for better options

I'd look for something else than Frank Thomas in the glove department, Liz had a pair they were terrible at keeping her hands dry.
I've got a pair of Alpinestars WR-1 Drystar gloves, which are brilliant for cold winter wet days, never leaked always stay dry and comfy. Not good for warm days though.
Have a look for Alpinestars Jet Road Gloves, or the Tech Road Glove might be more what you're after.
Remember with Kit, you get what you pay for IMHO.
I've got no experience of those boots your looking at though.
I've got a pair of those boots they do leak in very heavy rain! (AR07) and they are a bit too warm for summer use! I have a pair of these for summer use and they don't leak!

The gloves look a bit basic TBH. Would they really protect your hands in an off? Boots - look OK. May leak a bit in heavy rain. Suggest you go to a bike clothing shop and try on some stuff. Paws on here works at HG, I'm sure she'd advise. Genrally I'm with Fizz on this, you get what you pay for.

I have got Oxtar touring boots. These have Gortex lining £99 from J&S shop. Guaranteed waterproof for 12 months. I have use these daily for months so far without a single leak.
IXS North Gloves. Again Gortex lining. £38 from J&S Shop. Guaranteed waterproof for 12 months. No leaks so far, had them about 10 months.
I took back a pair of Frank Thomas Aqua boots after 3 weeks. My feet gotted soaked the first time it rained!
Tim.
I have a pair of those boots (MR2's) and they have kept me dry in heavy rain. A friend of mine also has a pair. He has had an off in them and they stood up very well. All in all, a very good budget boot.
The only issue I have with them is they are a bit wide compared to sidis so wouldnt work well with narrow feet
