BBQ gas

OK, so I'm off to help do the cooking for the throttlemonkeys website at their annual fest in August.

BUT, my calor gas canister has been on the go for 2 years now.

Is there any way to work out how much is left in it? Last thing I need is a fizzle and a pop in a field on a Friday night surrounded by 60 hungry bikers....

I have always just waited til it ran out andthen replaced it.

Hmm, maybe I'll replace in anyways just to be on the safe side, which kind of makes this thread useless.....but I'd still be interested to know if there is a scientific method for knowing how much is left.....

We recently bought a new bottle from b & q and it came with a little guage on it, might be best getting a recharge there, cos after experiencing your bbq, ing skils at AR 07 it would a shame for no one else to benefit from your expertise :D

No B and Q nearby but Homebase so will try there, but its about time they put a little guage on them.....

Just as chance has it I sell Calor Gas. On the top of the bottle (If it isnt BBQ or patio Gas) there is a metal plate. This will have the tare weight on it. This is the weight of the empty bottle.
Place the bottle on a set of scales, note the weight, then subtract the tare weight & hey presto, that will tell you how much gas is left. :)
