View Full Version : The Super Secret "What prize do we get Rictus" thread
Mark, you are NOT allowed to read this thread.
Seriously.
Now bugger off.
Has he gone?
Good.
Righto all. As most of you know, Mark doesn't like a fuss made of him, but I for one think he thoroughly deserves one anyway. I'm pretty sure that in the competition from the ride out he was at least running a close second to the guys who won the biggest obstacle and hero prizes, (plus i didn't get to vote coz I've been too busy working...)
Trouble is, I'm a moron when it comes to thinking what to get for folks, so i'm opening this up to suggestions. Please PM me with serious suggestions as to what to get Mark as the thank you, well done, or sheer bloody mindedness award that I feel he so richly deserves.
Once i've got some good suggestions I'll get back to you and we'll see were it goes from there.
Don't post any serious suggestions in this thread, I have a feeling that even with the "keep out" notices at the top he may sneak a peak...
Of course, any humorous suggestions are more tham welcome...
Mark, if you've read this far you may be considering removing this thread. Please don't. It's taken ages for me to write...
Jeez - keep your voice down Bear - he'll hear you.

But what to get him..........? :-k Other than a new leg! :D
Dont get him anything bike related, i remember him saying that everyone seems to do that.
Id suggest a bottle of single malt. However i know hes fussy when it comes to things like that, so some research of his fav brands wouldnt go a miss.

Oooooh - perhaps we should all get together and 'research' which single malt is the best. :drink:
*ohhhhhhhhhh I will put my thinking cap on and PM you,.... *

Luckypants/Richie know their stuff with regards that idea. Can't remember who else was downing the stuff (Timwilky perhaps).
I reckon we buy him a toy model bike. I think it was him that commented that everyone buys him one of those, so why not us lot too :D
Let us know if you want a contribution towards cost, and how to pay.
I dont think Mark has any more room for any more bike model's lol

My point exactly.
He doesn't like a fuss being made, a bike model would be something small. ;)
Bear said humourous suggestions welcome, and I think it'd be funny to get him something he's already got a crap load of. But maybe that's just me. :D
Hey - how about a really cute physiotherapist?

it was sexist humour, having spent rather a good while chatting to Mark on the friday night i'm sure he'd titter at the comment. Im indoors has rather a lot in common with mr rictus being a guy filled with titanium body parts. I am still mulling over a more serious suggestion

Right, had a couple of good suggestions, so I'm gonna look for contributions and then decide what to get him when I find out how much cash is gonna be available. Can you all PM me if you wanna be involved and how much you wanna give, and I'll reply with what the plan is so it's at least a little bit secret!!!
Let's say the cut-off date is next friday which'll be the 20th ish I think.
Grinch: your suggestion is the winner at the mo.

Ok, sorry. I'm not on here anywhere near often enough these days, I can probably manage once every 2 days or so...
Anyone i haven't pm'd by now needs to send me one first, it's a lot easier for me to reply to you than to find your name in a list of 30 posts and then PM you.
And I'm a lazy b@$tard...
Cheers!
I think we should get him another scooter. I suggest the BMW C1, I think that he has always had a hankering for one.

Well I guess it's OK to look now then (and no I hadn't peeked), Jamie did the honors this evening in Soho, was just about to take the P*ss when I realised he was talking about me, it was a genuine surprise as I thought this was a winde up thread to be honest.
It's been a rough old year one way or another and aiming for the AE was one of the things that I WAS going to achive, might not have seemed as if I was having fun, but in relation to the rest of my life then, it was bliss.
quite humbling as I can't see what I've done to deserve it, it's just me and how I am, but anyway for all those involved in this and everyone who made the AE such a wonderful time I thank you.
a most appropriate gift to nice to use almost but I expect to use it with frequency.

Have to agree. It's not often The Mighty Rictus can be caught of guard.
You deserve it for all the hard work and hardships just for you to get there!!
Nice one Mark!!
For those who can't read the inscription on the flask it says
"Rictus AR07 Unofficial Sheer Bloody-Mindedness Award"
I know I said i'd do it next week, but it came on friday and there's a large chance I won't be around for the next month or so. For anyone who was planning to be there next week I'm really sorry. Most of the people who were involved and live nearby were there, so I took the chance.
Well done mark, you definitely deserved it mate
All the best
Stew
