I'm hearing rumours of a Wales Rideout in August - even with my finger on the pulse, I appear to have missed news of this.

Can someone please point me to the thread (unless it was planned not to invite me, in a kind of Hovis-styleee maneouvre )

It's a shame no date was ever set for that rideout. I would have come but I guess it's a big SWS secret :(

Wow 5th post would never have thought of looking there, & there was no chance I was looking through a 5 page thread for it.
Oh well forget it then have a good time without me.
I'll just wait for Baph's rideout then.:(

Yes, I edited my post today.. one- to add what Xan had asked me to do, that camping is now full... two, yes I did add the date as well, but Sarah had already pointed you to that.
Im sorry you missed it, but after 3-4 topics started on the subject.. most of which had dates in, I slipped up on that first post.. on that topic, but it was there in the thread...

Stu please see my comments in the ride out thread as these kinds of posts to organisers of ride outs mean that events stop being arranged entirely, perhaps a PM would have been more appropriate if you feel great agreived by it.

I'm sorry you have missed this ride out but i'm sure if it goes well there will be many more.

Just came from two weeks touring in Wales and been all over the place. When they put a sign for a tight turn they really mean it there! So beware, I really had a blast despite the ****e weather, roads are well surfaced and the countryside distractingly beautiful. Went through some roads which were in the resurfacing process and a bit slippery in the wet due to the loose gravel but nothing major. A470 best stretch of road ever. Hope I don't receive any speeding tickets :)

What rideout thread?
That was half my point, if organisers stuck to accepted practices, like having all the pertinent info in the first post and updating the first post as things happen. Then when the thread takes off with 200 replies it's simple for everyone concerned.
I asked 2 days ago what date it was but got totally ignored.
Anyway, I was just pointing out to stretchie that the info wasn't there when I asked.
Oh and I don't know why VB keeps going on about 3 threads that got started
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=92593&page=1 is the only one I've seen.

Yes, you asked what dates. And Yes I chose to ignore that having already posted this...

Notice:

1) For the sake of my already elevated blood pressure, would forum members please take the time to read through this thread before PM'ing me with questions. You will usually find the answer has already been posted.

2) I have no desire to recieve cash for camping. If you don't have the facility to make a bank transfer, please go to a branch and pay cash over the counter using a paying in slip with the account details I sent out. If you're not on the list, please make arrangements directly with the campsite (see point 1).

3) I'm not a registered child minder, therefore I'm not able to wipe ars*s so please don't expect me to. I, as much as all of you want to have a really good time that weekend, so please, try to fit in around the plans that have been made. It's not as easy as you think to organise these things.

4) :smt058 I'm stoked so many people are coming.

You said yourself you weren't prepared to read the thread. On balance, I've looked after the needs of 15 people, you didn't even manage to look after yourself.

This started off as a local even with a very very small amount of people attending, it then was made an open invite... and due to time and the lack of it, I havent been able to update things as I would like... some of us are out of the house for 13+ hours a day...

and as Sarah has pointed out, there were other threads discussing this... again, started off as a local event in this section and then put up as an invite....

1st - read that, it was about the AR weekend and it's in the SWS section so I didn't keep reading every new post.
2nd - a locked thread that lasted 3 days? The Elan Valley doesn't mean anything to me, could be in the Alps for all I know. Again don't keep up to dat with all the threads in the SWS.

i did ask a while ago if the title could be edited to include the dates, & perhaps change the name from AE7½ to invasion of the valleys

but nothing came of it

perhaps a lack of geographic knowlege really isnt anyone else's problem?

I'm sorry to be harsh on this matter but, I have very strong feelings on this subject as these sorts of negative responses cause unnecessary bad feelings when it comes to organising anything for other people and is the exact reason why others have stopped organising things.

If you cant go now for what ever reasons then please stop spoiling it for those that are trying to arrange something for everyone else. Again should you have really wanted to go then perhaps a PM would have resolved this matter quickly.

It's always hard organising something like this and as people have said previously this was something that was only meant to be for a handful of people was then offered out and so grew a bit quicker then many thought. Perhaps given the benifit of hindsite things would be delbt with a bit differently however, on this particular occasion lets chalk this one up to experiance.

Should you wish to still go Stu there have been very kind offers to accomadate as people obviously didnt wish anyone to miss out due to these missunderstandings.

its a pity only 15 people can camp in the same place, why are they limiting us to this?
its probally too late to change the campsit,

so all we can do is learn from this for next time

on the north south we were not all in the same place

again as has been pointed out Hovis its a restriction that the campsite has put in place after the event of booking so wasnt something anyone could have done anything about. They are probably limiting you because you are a bunch of BIKERS and unfortunately the tag goes with that and only good behaviour on this excersion will ensure that you can return and these restrictions are lifted.

Changing campsite isnt going to happen if deposits have already been put down but alternative campsites arent out of the question as has already been suggested.

What she said....

Changing campsite now is a no-no...

IF, and thats a big IF, we decide to try this again next year (which I will probably do so, even if I go on my tod.) then we will probably arrange it a good few months in advance, but next time there will be no booking for other people.. it will be a case of DIY...
Dates/location/time will be put up, and that will be all....

And I would like to use the same campsite, as those who have only visited there will tell you, its right next to some brilliant roads, some of the best scenery in Britain, and the campsite even hire out boats and pedelos for use on the lake.... it has a pub, and a cafe... what more do you want ?

We are on a learning curve here... mistakes will be learnt from.. and if there is a next time, things will be done better..

anyway, off that subject..
The route we will be undertaking will not dissapoint, I will guarantee that..

though if bad weather prevails, the Elan valley will be a no-go...

Awww, but please!!!! C'mon, you know you want to!!

No seriously, I know not everyone will know what to expect of Elan Valley, different riding abilities etc.

Oh, and for the North Wales ride (if it even goes ahead - I'll post more about that later), I seriously doubt accomodation will be sorted out for anyone. If it is, it will be along the lines of this ride. First come first serve, and the place I'm thinking of can only physically fit 12 people. When that's full, it'll be a case of finding your own accomodation.
