Well - I've passed a claim from BluePete for temporary instatement into the Wonky Knee Gang - snapped ACL and overstressed Medial and Lateral Collateral ligaments...

... so much as we dislike the pain of admitting new members, I reckon Falc is 'in the club' too. ;)

There seems to be a growing number of us who understand what he is going through at the moment. :(

Wish him well from me for the MRI, and if he ever wants to talk about 'knee stuff' just drop me a line.

Hey, thanks for the well wishes all, just seems like its one thing after another, been given all these exercises and been working on building up my muscles and stretching out the hamstrings and then this hits. Oh well I can't do anything till next week when they do the scan.

Heh, the honour is great, thankyou :D and there is an increasing number it seems :( not really sure what the problem is but its around the back of the knee and is possible a hamstring has snapped as they use part of it to rebuild the acl and this weakens the hamstring so pang and it snapped.

Back to square one and using the crutches, just a bit down at the mo but thanks again for the well wishes, ill probably be bothering the knee experts namely you K and Mark :)

Oh flippin eck falc, what a nuisance. So, you told Tara it happened while you were doing exercises but it was actually one of those footballer style injuries from overstretching on the old video games!

Yay - Cocker Spaniels ROCK - FACT!

But then this makes me biased:

As for the hamstring - it's strange how medical technology and opinion moves on.
15 years ago I was advised by my surgeon to have a synthetic (go-faster carbon fibre to be exact) PCL replacement... as current thinking was that autografts would risk weakening either the hamstring or patellae ligament (whichever one was used as the doner).

Now they are pro-autograft and only use allografts (foriegn replacement) if a significant number of the ligaments are shot. Even then they prefer to use doner tissue from a cadaver rather than a synthetic replacement.
Apparently synthetics only have an average lifespan of 5years...

... but then 15 years down the line my carbon replacement is still A-OK, has even been assimilated by significant tissue regrowth and can barely been seen anymore. It's the strongest part of my knee (which isn't a good frame of reference - but you get what I mean! ;)).

I wonder if, in another 15 years time, that they will have had another complete turnaround and think something else entirely.

I know Viney, ill be back painting in a couple of days im sure

Yer I was having a read about different grafts they have done in the past K, kinda crazy how they just keep changing their minds. They investigated my PCL at the time of the OP as it was damaged but its alright otherwise he would of done that one also.

They need to look into investigating cybernetic replacement body parts I think, making humans better, faster, stronger...

Cute cocker spaniel :D
