I am a foreigner in these lands, but it seems most of the boxhill threads end up in here. i will be part of an isle of wight rideout to boxhill next sunday, providing the weather isn't too horrific.

anyone going to be there? might be nice to put names to faces and find some SV owners, i've yet to meet any here on the island despite seeing a couple of SVs around...

I can often be found at Boxhill with a coffee in my hands at one point of a weekendy.

What time are you planning on landing there?

we're on a 9:30 boat from fishbourne to portsmouth, so after a leisurely ride up i expect 12-1pm would be a reasonable eta - i'll be in a blue-ish leather jacket and a carbon fibre helmet and black visor if it's sunny

btw while we're on it, what's the general attitude towards bikes / visors / exhausts from the police at boxhill? i might have my new exhaust on by then and if so i might forget to bring the baffle:rolleyes:

I ride most days wth a black visor now and see plenty around the roads of Surrey- can't think it's a major bother. I also hear plenty of loud exhausts about- MCN recently reported that a common sense approach has been advised on these- as long as you'r wearing a black visor in daylight with good visibility, it's OK. Loud exhausts are advised to be booked if they're blaring around residential areas- ie causing a major nuisance. As I've got a standard endcan, I'm not the real authority with this, however- I'm sure someone else will be about to advise from experience!

I'm on a yellow curvy(edit!)- red Buffalo textile jacket, blue HJC lid. I'm also to be found in the You and You're bike thread somewhere for reference.

Is anyone else about today? I may feel a jaunt to Newlands and beyond on the cards.

thanks for that, i don't ride like a wally and try to be sensitive in residential areas, not flying through in 1st gear etc, and the visor only comes out to play when i would normally be wearing sunnies so will hopefully be ok, i always carry my clear one anyway so if they do stop me they can do what they want.

will keep an eye out for you and come and say hi:cool:

hehe, as someone who's other main pastime relies heavily on the weather you soon learn that anything over 48hrs is subject to change dramatically;)

Jeez- if you go by the BBC weather site, 30mins is enough.

Maybe they should just have the announcement from the start of Stingray-

"Anything could happen in the next half hour"!!!

no worries, i'm sure there'll be plenty of other times, having done more than a thousand miles on an island whose circumference is only 77 miles i need some new roads to explore;)

micky t - if you could make it i'd be your best friend all day, or more accurately, your hubby's best friend, the busa is my ultimate dream bike:cool:

just a bump for the massive...

ferry is booked, weather looks fine (either way i'm going now:D) - it would be great to see some folks up at boxhill. come and say hi to the guy with the '07 plate sport, longish hair, carbon helmet and either a blue/black/white leather jacket or grey textile (depending on what the weather does)

Hope you enjoyed your ride, Wolf. It was pretty dry around in sunny(ish) Surbighton. I even gave my beloved a clean and chain lube today- the weather held out long enough!!

ride was awesome, just got home and out the shower...

we managed to take some roads on the way up that made the island look good, lots of tree coverage, bright sun between, and wet gravel with rocks/logs etc. caught a little spatter of rain on the way back but generally fine, also went back for fuel on my own at one point so got to open it up a little on the sweeping A roads, much nicer than the island where you hit a 30 limit within 30 seconds of hitting the NSL so you can't get into the zone...

cheers to the guys that made it to boxhill, jester and his, urm, unique bike;) - plus the ones whose names i've already forgotten:rolleyes: - shame i missed the others but the group had to press on, i'm sure there'll be another time and place

Shame you couldn't hang around, we done a nice little ride from boxers, Down to Shere, Hound house Rd, down to Rudgwick A281, turnoff on the dunsfold Rd(b2130) up to godalming, looped round along towards Aldershot; across to Fleet and up on the A30,then the A339 to visit the Apes in Newbury, nice little poddle about.

Cheers Mark.
