First of all I get back to the bike to find this (click to enlarge)

So eventually having gotten advice, I got a member of the public to help me by holding it upright until I got my bike out from under it.

Things started to look up after I got to London Bridge when I spotted a familiar set of tail lights.

So I ended up going from London Bridge to about Kennington tube station riding alongside/near another Red K6 Pointy - this one with a 56 plate and one of the Suzuki top-box plates - you know, the one that replaces the pillion seat.

Then it started to go wrong........

First as I was about to filter past a 4x4 (traffic still moving) when he slams on his brakes and suddenly turns into a road on the right, right across me.

So much hard braking, sliding of rear wheel etc later I find that I am upright and ok, so having given him a blast of my horn I ride on......

Next its a stupid girl on a push-bike who moves right in front of me without looking, or warning.

So she gets a blast from the horn (really must get the other Magnum on there......) and I flip open my visor and keeping pace with her, proceed to give her a right mouthful.

Then, at the junction of Brixton Road and Camberwell New Road, a pedestrian decides to run out in front of me.

Next thing I know is I am entering the bus-lane on the Brixton road, doing a bit faster than I should have, having has the red mist come down, I close the throttle and "limp" home at about 20, fortunately its not far.

Its the first time I have ever been that angry/pumped up on adrenalin while riding - the option was to crawl home, or stop riding for a bit......

Worst thing of all is I had a GREAT ride TO work !!!

Hopefully I will feel better in the morning......

wow sorry to hear of your troubled day. That parking is a bit shaddy. I would have been knocking the other bike over. I meant here is close and then there is touching.

It was only touching when he leant it over on the side stand, as said what I lifted it upright and got a passer-by to hold it I was able to wheel it out easily.

when $hit happens it tends to come in more then one:(, sometimes i think it's something in the air like the pressure. you know sun comes out everyone goes ape, and when the pressure is low peeps are half asleep:|.
glad you're using bus lanes ;). well done on coping with red mist:D

I bet the owner used to ride a scooter - they all park like that
And yes, parking is that bad in central London, especially in the summer

Jeebers- yeah, I would have been tempted to knock the bike over or at least leave a few scratches on the fairing. What a ****.

Fair play for keeping your cool and doing the sensible thing- it's not an easy thing to control yourself when properly seeing red.

How did he get off it? I can't get off my bike the 'other' way, can only dismount the way it leans..

Keep your cool dude, a hot head and bike doesn't mix!

Unbelievable parking there :( I might just be imagining it but does your brake pedal look a bit bent? (sorry if that's made your day that much worse)

On the plus side, new exhaust? Don't remember that at Foxes, looks nice :D

If that's a bad day Dave you've lived a charmed life, you can only really call it a bad journey if it ends in an ambulance ride.

Cheers Mark.

:D

My thoughts exactly - that brake pedal is definitely bent, but I can't imagine how the other bike bent it thath way?

SK probably bent it, doubt for one moment that its the VFR's fault. Good parking though :)

Funny enough, I came out of the office today to find a silver VFR parked in my bike, his topbox was leaning on mine. So I just dragged it over a bit, alarm blaring... He'd managed to scrape the boxes together, but that's OK because his is colourmatched and expensive, while mine is old ebay s**t rattlecanned black, so he's got himself a nice smear of halfords' finest. I think I know where he works, I'm tempted to go and sit on his desk all day, see how he likes it.

Worse. What got my back up was when I left my Daytona for 5 minutes heard my alarm sounding and come back to find two teenage hoodie wearing scooter riders hoiking it out of a parking space to leave it parked illegally, so they could park their piece of crap - alarm blaring on the Triumph and everyone just walking on by. I grabbed hold of the handlebars before telling them in no uncertain terms to Foxtrot Oscar or I'd do one or both of them some damage. I was expecting trouble, but as I was right outside a bike shop and all the staff were waiting by the front for it to kick off they got the hint and left rather sharpish.

London has nowhere near enough bike parking bays anywhere within the congestion charging zone. Ken Livingston is a **** of the highest order, I'll sing and dance on his grave when he pegs it.

I'd have left him with two flat tyres for his trouble - ****

Nah, that's criminal damage and you can go to court for it, but letting his tyres down is merely inconveniencing him.

Sorry to hear of your day Dave, but I have to agree with Rictus. It's only a bad journey home when you don't make it that far.

I know it's difficult, but you commute in London, days like this should really be expected now & again.

Personally if that was my bike ad someone had done that id have probably pushed it over, with absolutly no remorse what so ever almost certainly if it had scratched it. or if i wasnt having such a bad day i would of got my bike out from under it by any other means less criminal
But there was blatently no consideration there what so ever, so i hope you scratched it. :smt094

Did he bend your brake lever or is the a reminder of AE? :D Personally I would have moved his bike into the road/onto the pavement and left it there!

First as I was about to filter past a 4x4 (traffic still moving) when he slams on his brakes and suddenly turns into a road on the right, right across me.

So much hard braking, sliding of rear wheel etc later I find that I am upright and ok, so having given him a blast of my horn I ride on......

Welcome to the life situation of a courier! :D

So she gets a blast from the horn (really must get the other Magnum on there......) and I flip open my visor and keeping pace with her, proceed to give her a right mouthful.

As above. Its easier to run 'em over though!

Then, at the junction of Brixton Road and Camberwell New Road, a pedestrian decides to run out in front of me.

PM Anna for my solution to idiot pedestrians. She saw first hand on Sunday how I deal with 'em, but I won't post it here as it's a bit naughty!! :D

Next thing I know is I am entering the bus-lane on the Brixton road, doing a bit faster than I should have, having has the red mist come down, I close the throttle and "limp" home at about 20, fortunately its not far.

Stay cool!! Angry and bikes doesn't work! It usually ends up going sky, ground, sky, ground, ouch!

I'd have been so tempted to push it over!! Luckily, sort of, I work in Canary Wharf and the parking there is respectful if not abundant. Spaces run out quickly in the car park but it's almost always 1 bike to 1 space. I saw that broken for the first time the other day but nowhere near as bad as this :(

Tell you what to do to get an overall opinion mate, make a Poll for this thread with the different options and lets see what the collective would of done,

but as baph and rictus always so rightly said at least you made it home, because we have all had BAD rides and sometimes bikers arnt that lucky :|

That is probably my biggest pet hate....people moving bikes to park their's, which are normally scooters:smt094 . When they have carelessly moved the bike, even if you are lucky enough not to have had it damaged, they then abandon it in the road/pavement ripe for a ticket.

Happened to me in chinatown a while back....as i was walking back to the bike i saw 3 chinese people moving it to park their scooter(yep they were 3-up). The air turned blue :p

The other time it happened to my mate when we went for a ride locally, so i put my old crappy disc lock on their bike and fecked off :smt026

Unfortunately this kind of parking seems to be part of London bike-life at the moment :( I'm lucky enough to have work parking just off Cheapside...but some of the public bays...holy moley!! A few weeks back I saw a lovely Hayabusa (well, as lovely as an ugly bike could be) wedged in with a scooter on either side...both actually touching him and a scrape up the side that looked very fresh and suspiciously moped-like. :(

There are certain bays that are always manic and I just couldn't leave my bike in one....ever. But for some reason I have spotted some bike bays that always have good spaces and never get wedged...
Southwark Bridge Road being one that comes to mind if anyone is struggling.
