Lower end being the key words. It will not take it, IMO. The crank assembly is not a strong point of this engine.

Come on, with the cars and bikes that come out of the states its hardly a surprise that they want them to go faster, maybe its the insignificance factor?
they put ten grand under the hood of a car to make it go faster? ontop of origenal purchase price!!!

I SAY . . .

buy a Gsxr 1000 and take a holiday :D

There's an article in the new Bike mag about turbocharging, supercharging and NOS.

A guy has supercharged his FZ6.................178bhp at the wheel and 84 lb.ft of torque. Cost him around £4.500.

There's also an interesting, and I think very honest quote from Sean Mills, the boss of Big CC Racing. ' Theoretically I could turbo a 600 if someone asked, but practically I'd just tell him to buy a bigger bike. If you've got a slow bike and you want to go quicker, buy a quick bike. But if you want your quick bike to go quicker, come see me'

Yep, you can easily tune an SV till it blows up with NA, so there's no particular need for a turbo :) And even with a totally rebuilt bottom end you couldn't make it reliable at SV thou horsepower. That said, there's a guy on SV Rider who's considering a turbo in a midrange application, which I think probably isn't that viable but wouldn't push the peak power to the point of catastrophic failure, more likely. There was someone else planned to supercharge his, but overgear it and drop the rev limit for the same reason. I'm not sure if he ever did it though.

Obviously, it makes more sense to get a faster bike, but it'd be a great project ;)

Wasn't there some student that was looking to put a turbo on an SV engine for a project he was working on ?

Turbocharged cars are the way to go

Rider training in the USA. The basic level is like CBT, more or less.

Is this not because the national US speed limit is 10kph or something?! :D

Don't know so much about the Accord.... 4wheel steer aint that fantastic from what I know, more of a gimmick perhaps.

But for starters there were 280 reasons for me to buy my VR4, all under the bonnet. :smt077

Also it's a street-sleeper car, costs half of a same spec/age Evo, looks (IMHO) more aggressive yet comfy too and the insurance haven't got a clue about their "mischief factor" either.

But yeah, back on topic : SV+turbo..... don't even go there!
It'll end very quickly (sorry about the pun) in... :smt089

Lissa, that quote says it all. :D

And how many of those make it through the 4wd system? ;)

Surely its the torque that the crank can't take, what with the V twin being quite well balanced naturally?

Mix of all stresses really... His scheme was to drop the limiter to about 8500, he said he'd done some stress analysis but he might have been just another bodger like me, but with a budget ;)

Lol! A budget you say?

I'm just in the process of making a paddock stand out of old steel table frames, no expense spared :geek::D

Like this matters that honda suzuki yamaha tried the turbo on 550 650 bikes in the early 80's I owned a 83 Yamaha Seca 650 turbo in 86. It was a blast to drive when the turbo kicked in. Felt like someone strapped a rocket to my ass. They were not reliable the tech was no there yet. mine leaked alot of oil from the turbo. But back then it was cool looking and the thing to have. But anyways. Have you seen ghost riders naked yellow turbo hyabusa?:smt098
