Took my bike off the road an age ago and have been colelcting bits or months. As some of you know (soho massive) my bike was a complete state before I took it off the road!! TSM and a few others hae been doing the re-build meaning I would not be at the stage I am at witouht them.
Just before I put it away - looking unloved and thrashed to ****!!

Thats a nice bike  I think once i get experienced enough and insurance drops i may have to get a TLS or R
Now that looks very nice!
How much of the original bike has been moved across though?
New forks, wheel bearings, disks, calipers, MC, SOAS, frame, top yoke, clipons, levers, full yosh exhaust system.
Old frame suffered the old TL headstock crack, PAPS got a replacement frame from a ebay seller under the asumption that it was not cracked which it was, so got a part refund then got it properly wealded up.
Apart from the above, its fairly much the same as it was before apart from repainted. Now just wiring loom, TB's, exhaust, plastics etc to go on then all ready to fire up.

That is looking brilliant - worthy of appearing in a bike mag once fully complete?

MC = Master Cylinder
SOAS = Spring on A Stick (basicly just a spring shock without damping, thats a sep item on a TL)
TB = Throttle Bodies (FI)

Thanks for the compliments. I am a TL nut through and through. I do not tire of looking at a standard TL. I am totally shocked at how it came out. My bike has 35,000 hard fast miles with minimal if no servicing and now it looks brand new!
At least now I will have a properly functioning bike as it was in a complete state!

Thanks again for the compliments! I have worked damn hard and have been living on £200-£300 per month to get the bike to this stage.:smt107
I just only hope that I don't ride the crap out of it like before!
As for having a go of the bike, well I am pretty generous with regards to letting people ride my bike (as many have, in fact I have borrowed my bike to people) but I would have to get to know you a little before hand. As for a Pillion ride, yes no problems.

PAPPACLART, that is one awesome looking bike.
The TL is one of the reasons that the Curvey SV is soo much better looking
than a pointy.
Don't forget to post piccies of the finished article. :D

Yes, although the 'curvey' SV is softer in appearance I think it looks alot better to the Pointy.
Should be moving the bike this week as my frien needs his sace in the garage. If all is well it should be finished.
Thanks to everyone for the compliments.

Gorgeous. IMO, it'd look great with a naked (pointy) SV style single headlight on it; leave the old bikini fairing off.

Loved the petrol station procedure, very ingeniuos lol
Loved the petrol station procedure, very ingeniuos lol
Ahh the "Saeedstand" as was crowned by Squid.
Getting there, papps cant help putting the plastics on to take pics even though its not finished.
The TL wiring loom is the worst ive ever seen, the SV is good in comparison and the TT600 is briliant. I had to wrap up loads of it as there was lots of the coloured wires just comming out of the loom into plugs.
Nearly finished, just waiting on a new choke cable (yes TLs have a manual fast idle/choke), front exhaust gasket, drill the front exhaust clamp for the pipework springs, oil change, coolant. After that then the plastics go on and its finished.

Nice to see the high quality saftey shoes were being worn!! :D
And I'd probably look at the rear brake lever angle!
And I'd probably look at the rear brake lever angle!
Fool! That's a safety device that is, going a bit hot into a right hander, slows you down innit!? I bet yours is adjusted too high to work like that... Schoolboy error!:D

Saftey, the flipflops are the least of my problem, i smacked my fingers between the forks and headstock, knee into the stand, cut my hands on sharp bits.
Yep the brake reservoir has yet to be fitted due to missing bits.

Nearly there, just a few odds here and there.
Well, TSM stripped my bike and put it back together again, not bad for an unqualified home mechanic I say, bike runs really sweet with no probs what so ever. Big thanks To Ricardo Akka TSM.:cool:

Thanks guys!
Well I have an MOT this saturday, before then though I have to:
Get Chain guard
Get mirrors (don't have any)
Get proper exhaust mounts (don't have any)
Get the rubbers for the mirror (do not have any)
Tank is not seating correctly so the bolts at the front do not mount up correctly as where the tank hinges it hits the knucle of the ohlins where it mounts so the ohlins may need a small spacer to off set it slightly!
The new rear caliper is not firming up at all after bleeding!
May be a few bits I have forgot, I need all of this done before Saturday 9am when it's MOT time!
On a good note, a friend pete is bringing me irrors and exhaust hangers this week as well as trying to make up some rubber spacers for the mirroer as the fairing will get damaged!
Anyone have a chin guard that will fit?
Sweet, that paint job looks great, nice job on the bike, very bling ;)
Chin guard eh? ;) don't think so
Spiderman
15-08-07, 04:51 PM
If i had any of those bits Rayn you'd be welcome to them as i'm dying to see and hear this gorgeous bike on the road.
Good luck getting it all sorted for MOT day mate.
PAPPACLART
15-08-07, 09:14 PM
Thanks Peeps. Going to cancel the MOT for this week as it is ****ing with rain so hard to work on the bike and some bits I have to order and there are a few other things that need sorting etc. Will now probably do it the following weekend so you guys will see the bike then. Cheers
