Apparently they are very hard and dont work well.

Z4's are really really old tyres, Metzler dont I think make them anymore as they've been superseeded by the Z6's

Sounds like your tyre place is trying to shift old stock...

The Z4 was fitted to the curvey sv from the factory. As fizz said, they where hard, but not in a good way. I found them ok, but then i was about16//17 stone at the time. Didnt last to well. The Z6's are the way to go if metzs, or the diablo stradas (Essentialy the same tyre).

Mich Pilot Road 2's are getting some good reviews as well.

Eek! Stay away from what I've heard about them, Z4s are indeed a very old tyre now. Cheeky dealership if they tried to push you onto those, unless you asked for them of course.

Z6s = great. had them as my last tyre, very nice, good wear, good confidence.

PR2s = even better IMO. Even more wet confidence than the Z6s and they were good to begin with. Good wear so far, nice look, solid tyre that has saved me a couple of times. I really can't fault them.

They're not terrible, they're just not very good... And that's a price that ought to get you a modern, better tyre like a Roadtec, Strada, Avon Storm, 020 would be an improvement too (021 better still, but expensive). Terrible deal...

I'd make sure they were scrubbed in first before pushing them - wet or dry.

Already guilty, like an idiot i was racing a ZXR 1000 on the way home from the tyre guy, the bike went the lowest id ever had it at before, got completely anhialated on the straights mind you. then it stepped out over a manhole cover :pale:

Now its just easy street for the the next 100 Miles or so. LESSON WELL AND TRUELY LEARNED ! ! !
