Sat there Monday night and got this in a PM from El Saxo

Hiya mate,

I can now truly appreciate what you did to yourself at the AR, cos I (very nearly) did the same thing on Friday!

I was on the M5 going down to Bristol, had been on the bike for a couple of hours already & not moving around so was cramping up a bit, so I was stretching my legs out a bit when I somehow let my right leg drop, it hit the tarmac at about 75mph and tucked right under itself, just missed going under the wheel! I fookin cacked meself!! I was in bloody agony for a while too - I pulled over at the services and was cursing like crazy after i got off the bike, and some nice old lady gave me an aspirin! Oh the shame of it all...

Maybe we should start our own club, like the wonky knee gang
I think Jester666 has also done the same thing aswell so i'm not alone :D wohoo :farao: For those who don't know what i'm on about i ran my foot over at this years AR and damaged the achillies in my right ankle.

Thankyou El Saxo for making me not feel alone and hope your ok mate.

Dammit you weren't supposed to tell anyone!! #-o:lol:

Memo to self: Keep feet on footpegs, that's what they're there for...

PS My ankle seems to be ok now, no lasting damage, phew!

:( bugger, doesn't sound good mate, have you been to a Dr / Physio about it?

Physio has given me exercises for it and told me to go back in a month that was 2 weeks ago. Pooing it cos it might be a surgery jobby worse case scenario, that could shatter my season this year.

I'll keep fingers crossed for you then that the physio gives you good news when you go back - makes me realise mine could've been a lot worse.

In the meantime, do be careful taking your feet off the pegs to rest the ankle won't you!!

Gents, get yourself some Crash Bungs and use them to rest your weary legs on when stretching out! Please note this only works on naked & Half faired bikes.

+1 Nice long Motosliders were ace for this.

The alternative is to make a petrol stop and have a 10 minute walk, do some lunges (aka Ritchies after the North/South :D ) and get the blood circulating in your legs / ****.

Never ran my foot over with a bike but did the same jumping out of a moving landrover once, twisted leg and got run over - OW. I now wait for cars to stop before i get out.

Lol, I swear PM's are upposed to be personal messages

You could stand up enduro style to stretch your legs?

its not my legs its my achillies thats why i have to drop the foot off

My problem is I'm about 6'1" so i get a bit cramped up on the SV, not normally a problem on A & B roads cos I'm moving around but on the motorway I start to feel it after about half an hour! I do take plenty of rest breaks on long journeys but I still suffer a bit.

I think I'll start putting my legs out behind me Superman-style instead!!

Allow me to consult the Magic 8 Ball (http://www.msu.edu/%7Evandrag2/8-ball.html)

EDIT: I just asked it - plowsie I suggest you stay as far away from the M1 as possible!!

do some lunges (aka Richies after the North/South :D ) and get the blood circulating in your legs / ****.

Or do a few warm up lunges before you start to ride.:flower:
