What do you guys pay then? I'm looking about nowadays for 95.9p per litre as the best one for me. I remember back in the day when i used to go with dad to the petrol station and prices were 86 point summit lol. Are prices varying in other places is the main reason for this. Anyone know about France also, what sort of prices are there?

I remember when it was about £1.30 a gallon when I first started driving.... many moons ago.
I was able to fill up my Ford Capri 2.0litre v6 (German Spec) for £15... Arrr great days now gone forever.
Just back from France, where I paid €1.06 (that's 71p at today's exchange rate) at the hypermarket in Calais for a litre of diesel. I didn't look at petrol prices that closely but IIRC it was maybe slightly less.
I pay 93.9p at the moment, I remember when it was 50p or thereabouts a litre when I first started driving.
If you want cheap fuel you need to live in Dubai, one of my friends left uni to work there, earns enough money tax free to buy a 350Z, and petrol is cheaper by the litre than water, I think he said its 11p a litre

93.9p currently. I swore I would give up when it went over £1/gallon.
When I started I think I was paying about 55p/gallon.
Side issue. WTF do they price in litres. Is it simply marketing as they are scared we will not fill up if we were concious of the real price. Nobody uses these metric measures.
I buy my beer in pints, my midget gems by the quarter and my wood by the yard. Apart from petrol which I buy by the tankful and pay in limbs
Since owning my 2.0 Corsa for the last 7 years...
Well...
Used to cost me £26 to fill up. As of 2 years ago, it was costing me £37-£38.....
I also remember going jetskiing and the fuel costing 46.9....... (think that MAY have been per gallon and not per litre too?)

Nothing wrong with using the litre as a unit - I have a 17 litre tank, i know that if im putting in 11 litres of petrol when the light comes on (or something like that) how much i would have left. Therefore, I can calculate how much further I can possibly go on the remaining 6 litres (or so)
I dont get gallons and fluid ounces and stuff
Matt
94.9 here - I remember filling my Mini 1000 up when I passed my test and it was 46.9 - them were the days!
i try to go to asda, but TBH i just fill up when i need to, i dont bother looking how much it is
99.9p on the north/south

96.9 anywhere near me now  Curse me for moving back South to the land of £2.50 pints.
To be honest with the bike I fill up anywhere as its only £8 - £12 at a time, the car which costs £50 a time I find the cheapest place.

95.9 pence (for diesel or unleaded) at Sainsburys, but 96.9 or 97.9 everywhere else, even Tesco (strange). My Nectar card is loving it at the moment. Some towns seem to have price fixing going on. I notice that when i visit mates in cambridge all the garages are more expensive than here and there is no price variation. there are always a few round here selling cheaper than others.
Just to set the record straight, I just tried a search but.....
How many litre does the tank hold on a K6? 17?
How many litres are left after the light starts flashing?
Does the light ever stop flashing and come on solidly?

But i had a thirsty v8 and a LOT more ground to cover then so it didn't work out to be that cheap!
NZ is odd, arond $1 for petrol, 0.66 for diesel

I remember filling up with my dad about 18 years ago and paying just under one dollar for a US gallon! Yesterday I paid $3.17. Times have changed, but still don't have the outragous prices you guys do.

5/6 per gallon plus 1d for the two stoke mix. Thats 67/240 of todays pound and 4.546lts to the gallon
Things were cheaper then but I only earned £5:18:7 a week as an apprentice
When you work it all back it equates to a 1st year apprentice earning about £95 per week today so in real life nothing changes that much
Have a guess at the year
Yesterday I paid $3.17.
£1.56 at todays exchange rate!

105.0 ruddy hell!! its about 95.9 in my neck of the woods.
Currently paying 102.9 and hasn't been under a quid/litre for at least a year to 18months i suppose.
I paid over £15 (for 15.6litres) on tuesday filling the bike after doing 128miles from a full tank. Jeez, i thought bikes were supposed to be cheap runarounds......
So u lot!!!! Stop yer moaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Based on those numbers you are only getting 37mpg so ease off the throttle if you want it to be cheaper! ;)
Yeah like thats why we ride bikes!
Yeah, i normally get low 40's or thereabouts. Maybe a little more two-up riding than usual i guess.
Anyway Skip, 37mpg is still 17 more than the car can manage. :smt100

I did 5+ miles on the solid light and I could only still get 13 odd litres to the brim.
Sorry I don't want the thread to be stopped as I didn't answer the question  it's 94.9 at my local in Newcastle.
I remember in my day when it was .45p/gallon....... sorry that's US and it's now still only £1.50/gallon US

it was getting on for 60p a gallon when I started riding, (under 15p a litre), but that felt far more expensive then than it does now. Petrol pumps were more fun then too, clunk the big fruit machine handle to select 2,3,4 or 5 star, and watch the counter wheels whizz round (or some older ones had a clock face).

Alloa price is 93.9
Stirling is 95.9
Plus a filling station selling it at 35p a litre though you have to pay £100 to join and sign some disclaimer regarding research for exhaust emission .
You are allowed 40lts a week per veichle registered.
It is currently being investigated by customs and excise.

This is very true. I am in no way trying to justify high costs but if fuel prices kept up with inflation well I don't even want to know what it could be, £5/litre? Man I hope "Gordon Blair" isn't watchin this thread or I can't remenber what the new chancellor "Mrs" is called

Surprising - so they are roughly 12-15 years behind us in petrol prices then!

I'm so old I can remember them inventing petrol! :)
Did you know in 1957 it was £4.16 per gallon.
It was at its cheapest in 1928 at £1.77 per gallon after the Suez crisis.
Local Sainsbury's is my watering hole at 95.9 p/l.

Well, my local Asda yesterday dropped to 92.9. Lets us hope this is the start of a trend.
Still the tax man has finally revised his prices and set I can now have 10p/mile for the cage

Ok the gauntlet is down....I think I may have set a record here but please shout out if you have beaten it.
Yesterday I did 201 miles up the M1 past Leeds across to Otley and back down between the towns past Holmfirth etc to Glossop then down the A57 back to Chesterfield.
Another mixed bag but gentle riding, anywhere between 50 and 70mph, a little blast for the last 10 miles or so.
Lots of 30 and 40mph speed camera avoidance though but to counter that it was stop-start riding I guess 30% urban....30% M'way the rest country lanes and A roads.
Average fuel consumption 71.74mpg
Didn't have to try particularly hard. Still overtook a handful of cages!
I love this bike!:D

Strange time of year for fuel prices to be falling but they've lost a lot of money because of the poor weather people haven't been driving for fun. As with everything else, no sales = lower prices!

I've got absolutely no idea how much I pay, it's always around £15 for a refill so that's all I think about.

I spent 2 weeks in France back in June, all the autoroute (motorway) petrol stations were about 1euro 42cents (about same price as here), while in the towns/villages where I was (the ARDECHE region) it was about 1euro 25-30cents, which is still about 90 pence a litre, not that much cheaper than over here.
My local area DARLINGTON is about 94.9p per litre.
I remember when I was in the RAF stationed in Germany (late 80's & early 90's) and getting TAX FREE petrol, but whinging:smt093 when I came back to the UK and it costing £25 to fill up my XR3i from redlight to full.

True....the SV only needs something like 91 RON and we ordinarily put 95 RON in the tank so we are already over-octaned! ;)
Which means we are losing a little power and not getting as many miles per gallon as we should from our precious liquid plus we are paying more for the higher octane when we don't need it???!
Stick 1p on every gallon and it makes 1.5 billion for the treasury in a year.
Rip-Off.....who said that?? :)
If 20% of commuters went out and bought SV's tomorrow just imagine what difference that would make to the petrol sales over the next year!
Congestion would almost disappear overnight, pollution would be heavily reduced, carbon output down, Al Gore would have a big grin on his face, (no change there then). 20% of people wouldn't be late for work any more. Less man-hours lost as a result. Industry gains. People gain through more pay for less lost hours!
Oops...sorry...just having that nightmare again! :)
I read somewhere that the only engines to require 98 or above are old sports cars and club racers. It was also said that the latest transistorised ignition systems are so accurate that pinking is resigned to the history books these days! Rich, Sid, help? :)
Q/ Whats the difference between and SV and an SUV?
A/ About 60mpg!

Yes but....
If you get on average 50mpg and you cover 10,000 miles a year you use about 200 gallons.
If the petrol is just 5p per litre cheaper then you save more than £45 over the year. Thats paid for most of your road tax! Or 3 free tanks full of fuel!
That 5p doesn't look much but..... ;)
Sainsbury's are doing the ...spend £50 on shopping get 5p off per litre at the moment which is cool.

I aint complaining... but.. Bp's 2 stations in Grangemouth seem to be the most expensive in the central area.. the one Right outside the gates of the Refinery that supplies all of the Petrol stations is the worst. few weeks ago there was only 2p a litre between standard and super. Duke gets the posh stuff but with the price so close the Blandit was getting super for a while too. Last i checked, 95 unleaded was 96.9 and super 100.9.
Wife.. How you getting to work this week? ...15 quid to fill the tank on either bike.. or 65 quid to fill the car?.. i'll be taking the bike ;)

ASDA aren't doing a bad deal 93.9p pump price and 2.0p discount for paying with the ASDA credit card plus you still get bonus points with your purchase
This is on all fuel so as I spend about £300 per week between diesel and petrol, quite a saving
