Hi chaps, Just wondered what the recommended route down to the new forest from staines / heathrow / Kingston area was.

Not keen on the roman A30 and A31 looks like dual carriage way all the way.

Thanks in advance for any swift replies!

I usually head over to Godalming, take the a286 to Midhurst, a272 to West Meon, A32 down towards Corhampton, b3055 to Botley, fight your way through Southampton depending on where in the New Forest your heading.

Cheers bear,

I sussed out a route, went well found one of the GM haunts too, The Ely

If anyone is interested....

From staines

A30- all way to Basingstoke and a bit beyond
A303 for a short squirt coming off at Micheldever Cross the staggered jct
first left towards sutton sconey.
Picking up the A30 again, looking right at the satellite dish and fab veiws of the River Test valley
Stockbridge - fantastic little village, stop for cream teas, and chat to the trout in the river flowing through the village.
A3057 (east end of village) south following the River Test lovely winding road to Romsey
A3090->A36->A31 in quick succession
At cadnam the A337 takes you in towards Lyndhurst.

HighCliffe is good for looking across to the Needles on IOW :D
