View Full Version : (Whoops!) Nice hedge! Think I'll investigate at high speed...
So, I chucked my bike at some scenery today, and as a result need a left hand rider footpeg, a brake pedal and a clutch lever (Pointy)
Anyone got these bits knocking around?
Also, if anyone's got any sympathy going spare, that'd be nice too... I'm okay, just slightly bruised in the hip, the ribs and the ego region...
My own fault tho, did the classic following someone else too close, they cornered and I came up behind them and grabbed the front brake...
Allow me to be the first to call myself a ****...

It's a special type of brake pedal that works the gearbox.

From what I hear, there was a sign saying "Honey - Turn Right"
Glad you're all OK
.....can't help you with the parts you need for your bike, but I've a spare pair of undies you can have!
Ouch! Sorry to hear about this Bear, I'll hve a look in the garage to find out what spare bits I have. But as others have said, at least you're OK, that's the main thing.
How'd it happen Bear?
Target fixated or did you really just think it was alovely house and hedge right there.
I can't talk I nearly lost it yesterday, lack of focus. Can happen to anybody.
Take it steady you are only little and a bit fragile. ;)
Glad you are ok Pal.
It's a special type of brake pedal that works the gearbox.
Actually, I needed the brake lever coz mine has an unspecified bend in it from a previous something. Figured while I was on the scrounge...
Razor: Yes, I was target fixated on Ibishu's rather nice derriere, and when it got too close in front of me I grabbed a handful...
Unfortunately a handful of front brake...
It's one thing to look like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards by a bear - it's another to actually be Bear dragged through a hedge.;)
Sorry :) that's my attempt at sympathy for a Monday morning!

Sorry to hear about this mate. Hope you get the bike sorted sharpish. I don't have any spare parts (those are the bits I tend to break!), but have you tried/is there enough of the rear brake lever to do the old "bolt through the brake lever" trick? I did it as a temporary repair on mine and ended up keeping it for 18 months!

I'm pretty good considering. Left toes are a bit sore, right knee is only sore if I touch it. My right arm is the one that is bothering me, but I am at work living it with it. But all things considered we came out pretty good... ish...
I'm told the bike is a lot better than it looks, I haven't had a good look at it. I know it goes on a straight line because I rode it home after the incident. So I shall be scouring for bits and pieces soon. I will have a full list when I go home tonight and take her apart.

Raf decided to see if an SV was a good alternative to a ploughshare!
He ran wide on a righthander and had a play with the raised grass verge.
Bear was just looking at ladies bottoms and fogot about the corner!
Silly boys but the main thing is, they both walked away.

was it a rideout at a bit of a pace?!
No. I was two up all day and thus taking it easy.
I go for a nice little bimble in the countryside and show you lovely gravel strewn beautiful teensy roads in the **** end of nowhere you all stay topside. Then I conduct you to a perfectly surfaced nice twisty main road, which is when you start chucking yourselves at the scenery!

Agreed, I wasn't able to really push it in any of the corners, yet had no difficulty keeping up.
keeping upright however was more a challange, and that's evn without the bike :smt107
Cheers Mark.
Just seen this (bit of a stranger of late), really sorry Jamie, immensely glad you're okay, at least the bike's not too bad. All part of the learning curve (do please excuse the pun), just consign the experience to the Painful Memories Folder, and move on. Rubber side down, naturally ;).
Well, looks like I'll be back on the road again today for the princely sum of £17 for a new footrest...
Sid Squid will be bunging my old snapped clutch lever back on, has drilled and bolted the gearshift, and used Suzuki Specialist Tool 2765542-G1* to bend the bars back into a useable shape...
*To those without the Suzuki Tools Catalog, it looks remarkably like a big piece of scaffold tube...
