Was there on Friday for the practice day. Took loads of shots but only have 4 online at the moment as I don't like to flood my Flickr account with lots of motorsport:
The crowds favourite:

No idea I'm afraid, I didn't have a program and can't see the number anyway. Looked through my other shots but don't have any of him with his number showing. Thought it was from the 600's originally but not sure now.
Thanks for all the compliments, glad you like them :)

Patience, practice, timing, skill. Camera settings are Shutter priority mode (Tv if you use Canon), slow enough shutter to show some movement (1/320 for this shot). I have a VERY good lens on a not so good body, glass is where it's at.

Inside the hairpin boss, that's Druids right? Only place with no mega fencing in the way.

.....glass is where it's at.
Never a truer word spoken.....

The ONLY place to get really decent photos where the bikes are just 10 metres (maybe even less) away..... Just get there early, it gets busy !

True...glass is where it's at!
The other best spot without any fences are all the way around the long circuit...
Here are a few from my weekend at the circuit.
These are all unedited so please excuse the armco barrier in a few of them.

Jdub...those are ace pictures. What equipment do you use? I'm looking to get a camera and a good lense, but I know didly squat about it all (although I would like to learn)
Hawthorn is a top place for pics, its one of the few corners in the world where you can really see the riders working the bike
Matt
cool, i been playing with the nikon D40, what sort of lense would you need for shots like that ?

That flaming shot was taken with with my 70-200mm lens at 113mm. It's an L series lens which is Canons pro series.
Whatever the Nikon pro series is would be a good start I guess. For most motorsport a longer reach would be helpful (maybe up to 300mm) but that costs serious money.

Matt,
I'm using a Canon EOS 400D with a 70 - 300mm Tamron zoom lens.
I am looking at upgrading my lens but the lens I am looking at is going to cost me over £1k so a bit of saving will be required before I can get the better glass:)

Got a few pics from the weekend, but today is the first day I have been back in Guildford since Brands, so have not managed to download any pics yet! They're no-where near as good anyway, but will put some on here over/after the weekend!
